Steady, now.
Why didn't they show the time he did in the other Atom?
Drifting's ok but moments like this are better;
I guess there's a "driving over kerbs voids warranty" clause

Paging @Beany:
The exhaust of mine didn't sound like that when hitting the limiter (about 4m 30s). But I am reminded that I hit the rev limiter an awful lot.

it doesn't sound that different to mine, but I'm pretty sure there were some ECU variations on the 1.7 that might have changed it a little between them?
I miss that intake noise....

Mine was a 1998/S so likely to be the same model year as that R-reg model. The 1999 cars had slightly different seats.
It did make a decent noise and revved OK (once out of 1st and 2nd where it was torque limited) but the limiter at 6,500rpm always felt way too low.

Fairly sure the limiter was at 6750 but then I don't have one outside to double check. Believe it was the top end valvegear that was the main limiting factor on engine speed but it's been too long since I looked into it.
But yeah, going from a crawl to fast road speeds in one shot in third gear was always a treat.

Nice video.
My now wife had a new Fiesta 1.25 Zetec in 2000 which I have fond memories of. Only 75hp but was great fun hauling its 900kg, the Puma must have felt quick with 125.
Yamaha designed the 1.25 and iirc the 1.7 was the largest derivative of it.
Results would probably have been quite different if the porker was a Turbot
I still really enjoy driving mine. It’s no sports car killer, but does drive just and feel like a sporty early 2000s bmw should.

Maybe, but it wouldn't have made a difference to shots like 2:38
I didn't remember seeing that vid before, maybe because it seems more X5 than 4.8iS. Anyway, good to see Tiff exercising them

I was alerted to the existence of this vid by @scotta. Not sure if it qualifies as a "decent car YouTube", as I spent most of it mumbling "absolute throbbers" at various levels of volume & intensity, but......

I couldn't subject that to winter use, even with the precautions he's taken. It would seen cruel.
I saw a black one the other day, the ride height looked like a Puma Active and the tyres looked to have taller sidewalls, having watched the vid I'm now not so sure I'm not convinced the tyres weren't wrong (it could have been on 14s and 185/60s) but the ride height could just be a new standard spec refresh.
I don't mind the new/current Puma.
