I still think it looks shit with gold wheels.

I agree with Gav. The gold wheels do it no favours. Also wasn’t that impressed with the sound at times, and Harry must be regretting giving up the PAS.
Still a cool way to travel round Europe.

Never understood why you'd give up the PAS on something like that, especially when its going to be used for long road trips and actually driven regularly.

I’ve mused over this previously - Harry said he was delighted with the electric PAS system he’d fitted (which assisted at low speed only) and has never explained (anywhere that I have seen) why he subsequently removed it. Weird.
Silver or even bronze would be better, but the wheels still look great to me in gold.

I think it was mentioned somewhere in the depths of the videos where there was work being done at Tyrells.

I thought I'd missed a video on his decision to remove it, I thought he loved it and the fact it was for low speed only, I couldn't see the downside.

Its in a video shot with Ian Tyrrell. Said the PAS numbed the feel.

That’s one of the things which made me lose a bit of respect for Harry, not that he cares
Just saw him as one of those people whose opinion you could trust more. He got the power steering fitted for free in return for covering it on the mag. Waxed lyrical about it but then seemed less than impressed lately and had it removed.
Drawn your own conclusions with that one.

Yeah, feels like it needs some shared conclusion - was it any good or not? was it reliable? etc…

When he got it put on he was happy with the compromise and he changed his mind?
Personally, I’m livid. I wouldn’t have got power steering on my Countach if I’d known he would change his mind.

Its not a specific thing though - it’s the potential of knowing that his reviews are tainted by if he’s given something free or not.

It could be true that he liked it when he reviewed it and the novelty wore off though.

Totally - hopefully he’ll do an update.

I had thought there was some engineering reason as well why he removed it but maybe i'm misremembering.

I’m just enjoying folk being “you aren’t still using this product you endorsed 15 years ago, A GRIFT.”

Found a tweet from 2013 that said he liked the GetGravitas power steering he had fitted but liked that it had an off button for high speed driving. Having the facility to just turn it off doesn't seem to tally with the comment that he didn't like it so had it removed - why wouldn't you just toggle it to off...

So serious! wtf else are we supposed to talk about?

I’m just interested in cars and would like to know more about some of the decisions made, which in the face of it doesn’t seem like a great idea.
I expect things have moved on now. Driftworks have just fitted a mk3 clio setup to their v8 e30 m3 with knob to give variable assistance.
I guess one of the things which might be a concern on an older car is the extra electrical load as epas can take a decent slug of power.

Could be that. I suspect that also - when it isn't providing assistance it isn't fully detached, so you possibly then have some extra unwanted inertia or friction in the system?
