I am in the unfortunate position that my biometric details are identical to a known criminal who is on the run. I get flagged up on the E gates and pulled aside each time in Heathrow but it's never more than 5 minutes. The odd thing is last time the Police swivelled his monitor round and I could see that the criminal looked nothing like me but I guess fingerprints and eyes must be very very similar.
Anyway, makes me think twice before going to somewhere like the USA.

We had booked to go to New York next year and we're looking at other places we can go instead. We booked with Virgin Atlantic, so we're tied to places they fly to or we'll lose the deposit. Canada is the current favourite.

I ended up getting married because of that situation…
…we’d booked flights to Costa Rica, but the whole Zica virus was suddenly a big thing (and we were trying for kids). we ended up changing our flights (can’t remember if it was Virgin or Delta) for flights to NY and got married whilst we there (without telling anyone).

And he’s completely backed down on China
That’s tariffwang.
And yet, he didn't really say anything...
“come down substantially, but it won’t be zero”
“We’re doing fine with China,”
“We’re going to live together very happily and ideally work together,”
“It won’t be that high, not going to be that high,”
None of that actually means anything

Meanwhile investors faith in the USA economy is rock bottom, tourists are abandoning it as a destination, defence buyers are turning away from US markets and confidence about the future of the US as a democracy has never been lower.

They'll have to downgrade from owning the libs to renting the libs at this pace.

I'm really amused at China's approach of letting the world know that they're expensive, "made in" France, Italy etc luxury goods are all made in China for buttons (and just finished in those European countries)
I wonder if that will spark a new trend in people sporty Birkin bags without the logo as some kind of badge of honour (that they got the bag for cheap, fuck the system etc)

They’ve been doing that with Louis Vuitton style bags for 20 years

That is one of the best lines ever written on here or any previous message board...

Gamers Nexus - of all people - have done a three hour investigation into the impact of tarrifs on the self-build computing sector, and suppliers are so pissed that even ones that GN have pilloried in the past have opened up their doors, sat down with their own fierce competitors in the same room and talked about how fucked they all are, and in what ways.
Hyte, for example, a company you've never heard of, just can't sell products in the US, period. Now a computer case from them that would have cost $140 now costing $350 - for their base model. With a full breakdown of their development costs, margins, etc and how the tariffs impact that.

I'm not sure which of those two lines warrant the most follow-on questions and in which order to be honest.

My personal feeling is if it’s within say a 99% match the E gate flags it up - I guess there must be some margin for error in the system. Really I should ask if it’s an interpol type affair and if it gets flagged up elsewhere but I haven’t had a problem although other countries I’ve been to haven’t had E gates so maybe the immigration officers can obviously see that I look nothing like the suspect and don’t mention it.

Latest approval ratings. It’s interesting to see the detailed numbers against the demographic split, but the general shape is very predictable. Uneducated old white men.
