Not really. The 3 cars were on identical times at the end of Sector 2 so all to play for.

Kimi’s lap was epic, though.

No I mean he should have come in just before he started the lap, would have left Vettel out to dry without a slipstream.

That would be moronic because he still had a chance of getting pole.

Yeah, that would be the dumbest strategy ever.

In a slower car on one of the simplest tracks where a driver can’t make up much time I thought pole would be pretty unlikely for him.

Did you even watch qualifying? Ham was provisional pole after the first run and, as I said earlier, up until the end of Sector 2 on the final run the top three cars were neck and neck. He was only 0.01 behind Vettel in the end and 0.1 off Kimi who did a better job of slipstreaming than Hamilton did behind Bottas.

On the final run Hamilton left too much of a gap to Bottas effectively at which point I thought that’s him screwed, might as well pit immediately and capitalise on screwing up Vettels run too. It’s a risk but who would have expected Kimi to actually not screw up and Vettel would have been too slow without someone in front.

And it still would have been the insane strategy of a dribbling idiot.

What he should have done, was pulled a handbrake turn across the apex of one of the chicanes and blocked anyone else getting a lap... or maybe he should have dropped some spikes or an oil spill... or maybe got on the radio and told Vettel his mum was fat...

These are ridiculous ideas, but still make more sense than your moronic one.

Speaking of moronic - you know how the main grandstand has 3 massive Ferrari flags, the fans seem pretty happy under it right now but it must suck to see the entire race through a big piece of fabric!

Cut a hole in it, stick your head through.

Gah, gutted Kimi couldn't hold on to it.

Superb work by Merc and LH. LH is just the class of the field, and he's making SV look very ordinary.

That was a great race, most of it flat out.

Is it just me or is Di Resta’s voice a real killer after such an exciting race?

What a great race. I think it could’ve been even better if Vettel hadn’t fucked up.

They’re saying now that’s he’s fucked up 4 times. Think Ferrari better find another number one driver and quickly.

Great performance by Lewis and the team. I really enjoyed that race. Vettel needs to have a word with himself.

I'd have been very happy if Kimi had won but it was a super result.

Well that was a decent race. Shows Kimi is actually the better driver at Ferrari.

I still want to see LH win it this year because he's had to fight for it, Vettel is just in a decent car much like he was at RBR.

I remember Seb’s biggest criticism during his Red Bull dominance was that he wasn’t very good at wheel to wheel racing - he just pulled out a gap of a few seconds in the fastest car and stayed in the lead. The same criticism still applies today, and if anything he seems to crack under pressure ever easier now. Maybe he’s under too much pressure to deliver for Ferrari, which is why Ferrari need Kimi as he doesn’t give a crap and is cool as a cucumber.
