How quaint. Do you not have apps for that over there?

A physical key is more secure.

I do like a ubikey. I'd try to integrate it in my place, but I'm pretty sure 90% of our staff would lose them, or leave them at the office, or accidentally feed them to their pets, etc, within a week.

Quentin Tarantino is sick in Italy and has decided to make his next film entirely in one isolated marquee in Tuscany. It’s called Tent in Quarantino.

I think its time to start taking this seriously on a personal level, limiting social interactions etc. Annoyingly I've got a trackday tomorrow, and a pub/birthday party for a mates wife on Sat - which we've already discussed postponing (100+ invited, smalll rural pub - not ideal). The trackday would probably be fine, most of it will be spent out in the open, and wearing a motorcycle helmet!

I'm starting to think about a sneaky late night shopping run to stock the larder up, in case I get stuck at home for two weeks, I noticed last visit that the soap aisle was already cleared out but I'm more concerned when panic buying moves into main food stuff.
I'm not going to anything social and no big events that I don't have to go to right now (just bailed on a leaving do tomorrow). If this pattern of behaviour is repeated across the 0v9 forum... well, I don't think any of us will notice any change.

Presumably if everyone is remoting into the workplace, someone has to man the fort in IT to keep everything going?

Wales v Scotland 6 Nations game is still on in Cardiff Saturday so that's 75,000 people in the stadium and at least that much again come into to town to watch the game in the pubs.

Given the restrictions elsewhere I'm amazed 🙄

Me in Aldi stocking up with canned food just now:

The shelves behind should be rice, pasta, tinned toms, corn, baked beans, kidney beans, chick peas etc. All cleaned out.

Yeah, remotely ;)
All in the clouds, innit.

Ubikey is what I was referring too yes, we have a few for general WFH but we try to limit it during normal working practice. That changes for this situation obviously.

And yes, I am dangerously low on booze, off to panic buy tonight. I'll get some Pot Noodle while I'm at it, just to be safe.

I have a hybrid Citrix VDI solution that is designed to scale in the cloud. It seems more readily scalable so that the rest of our business IT is. We've fixed a couple of system glitches and it's ready to go to big numbers. So Microsoft it's time to put your money where mouth is with Azure. We are also using Azure MFA for it so highly scalable too.

In other news I'm waiting for my flights to the US to be cancelled (I was going via Paris CdG) and I'll then decide if we bin the whole trip (looking at Florida park shutdowns too) and claim on either holiday or credit card insurance and do it later in the year. That should another element of fun to the whole situation.

MrsREV is currently out shopping. There’s no bog roll or pasta on the shelves at all. Fucking madness. How much bog roll does the average family get through in 2 weeks anyway?!

We're only in for the flights for our holiday in August at the moment (Hotel can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance). What's the general rules on claiming back on Travel Insurance - does the FCO have to declare the Country a no-go area etc ?? What about VISA's rules? are they less stringent ?

This bog roll thing is mental, but I think it started off with a few idiots and now even otherwise rational people are thinking if the idiots are taking it all I better have some too.

Even if it's not in the cloud, if you can't remote access your infrastructure over a mobile phone hotspot from the side of the road, are you even doing IT right?

(yes, I have bounced telecoms TDM cards from the roadside)

Big Tesco in London - still no bog roll, pasta, rice, sanitising products. Stuff like baked beans, tuna, spam are all low stock. I went a week ago and it was the same. Of course they must be restocking it but far too slowly. I’m kinda skeptical if they’re doing it on purpose to add in to the panic and increase sales as I didn’t see a single member of staff restocking on both occasions whereas whenever you go shopping you do usually see a few people restocking :?

I've paid a deposit for a Jet2 package holiday in August. If I cancel now the deposit is non-refundable. The balance is due around the end of May. If FCO say don't travel to a country then Jet2 have told me they'd offer an alternative or a full refund.

Cheers Jon...

My decision will be based on whether we get it before hand or not. I'd rather not get sick with it on Gran Canaria

I thought we were running low on bog roll, but thankfully found a 9 pack under the stairs so no need to scour the shops for a pack. It will be interesting to see how barren the shelves are when we go for our weekly shop at the weekend!
