Yeah, it’s fucking hilarious, you fucking clown.
Second meaning of 'funny' Rev, come on - you're better than this.
I’m pretty sure that the families of those 16,000
so far wouldn’t find either use of your phrase appropriate.
It's self evidently a medical and economic disaster and emergency and a tragedy for thousands of families across the country. I'm talking only of your criticism of its handling by the government and your reference to the death toll as evidence that huge mistakes were made and that our response has been a disaster - which the figures don't support.
Could it have been lower, i.e. Germany - seemingly yes. Could it be much worse as per Italy and Spain - also seemingly, yes. Are the governments of Italy and Spain much more inept than ours? Or perhaps there are many variables in play and the analysis is not so simple.

It’s funny that some think that questions shouldn’t be asked because it’s not as bad as it could’ve been.
If the best I did at my job was not entirely shit, I wouldn’t get a pat on the back at my review. Shouldn’t we hold the people running the country to the same standard?
depends if your job was to try and hold back a Huge unstoppable landslide of shit. “Not entirely shit“ would be a decent result!
Fair point
Saying that, if 10000 people drowned in shit because they left a hole in the wall of their shit dam, you’d probably ask them why they did that.

Yes they do. Of comparable countries, only Italy, Spain, France and Belgium have a higher number of deaths per million population. The rest of the world did better than we did in whatever they’re doing. Our deaths/million is 10 times the global average.

Especially if someone had pointed out the holes in the dam 4 years previously...

Its not 10 times the average of comparable countries thought is it? You can flip it on its head and say its pretty much half as bad as Belgium and Spain, 63% of Italy and 85% of France, very similar to Holland and likely to be overtaken in short order by Sweden whose response was to leave everything open.

No, but it’s much worse than many countries with a supposedly worse healthcare system. (So far, Rich B)
Just because some countries are worse than us, doesn’t mean we’ve done a good job.

This. If susceptibility is largely genetic (and ability to recover also reflective of underlying health), and there is little a health service can do other than push oxygen/ventilate, then there's little you can do beyond ensuring your health service is not overwhelmed.*
We'll only know the truer picture in 6/12 mo time.
*setting aside forthcoming treatments which vary globally depending on the strictness of your clinical practise.

The only new thing here is that all these years I’ve been lied to. It’s COBR. I shall call it Cobber from now.

It’s only COBRA when it’s held in Meeting Room A or something.

It’s one of those acronyms when you know they came up with the name and made up the acronym to make it fit.

Ah, a backronym, I believe is the term. Seems likely.

Whiteboard is a term that is being phased out and replaced with "teaching wall" as some people find it discriminatory

We do a lot of work in the educational sector with new school builds and upgrades and this is how you must refer to them. We've even been asked not to call them whiteboards during site visits at schools. Bonkers!!
