Ah, that vaguely rings a bell.

"Russian Billionaire" and "well rounded well adjusted individual with a grounding in ethics and decency" may not always be synonymous. :?

To complement the antics of Marzipan they'll get rid of Mick S and bring Maldonado back for completeness.

Funny how history repeats itself in many ways. In 1994 we had a young Schumacher and a bit of an aggressive sex pest in Jos Verstappen team up at Benetton.

Anyone heard anything about when they will announce if it will be GR or LH in the Merc this weekend?

I would have thought if George is in the car for FP1 and FP2 tommorrow that it would be his for the weekend but maybe that's just optimism and they'd unwind the positions providing Lewis could make it for the start of qually.

I don't think they technically have to decide until Saturday, but you're right, it would be less than ideal prep if they changed driver between Fri and Sat.

I’m a bit amazed that this is even still a threat in 2020? But yeah - Mazepin does seem like a bit of a bell-end.

Unfortunately it probably is when you’re involved in an international sport with massive financial backing from countries such as Bahrain, Russia, Saudi etc. where they are well known for their embracing of homosexuality

It’s even more odd considering Russell has girlfriend...

Imagine if George does do fp1+2 in a Mercedes and fp3 in the Williams, having the back to back comparison of those 2 cars. Poor boy

Yep, negative Corona test for Hamilton.

Was hoping Russell would get another go.

Hopefully when he does eventually become a Mercedes driver, they'll still be in a position to win. Big rule changes in 2022 and Toto Wolff might be doing something else...

Exactly - if I were Toto I'd try and get Mercedes to pay him out of his Williams seat and get him in for next year to take over from Bottas. Otherwise there is no guarantee he'd be interested if the Merc performance is not what it was in 2022. GR may decide, for example, that Red Bull is a better bet.

Plus they'd be swapping possibly both drivers plus a new car and that much change is not usually desirable...

Dorilton would happily exchange Russell for a fee as it was only a month ago that they were trying to dump him for Perez to get that sweet sweet narco sponsorship money.
I just can’t see Toto screwing Bottas like that, he’s his manager too isn’t he?

Not sure he'd be screwing Bottas. His contract is up.

Maybe this article is out of date but seems they went separate ways https://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/18 ... ement-team

Oh I see. Fair enough. Chances of that have gone from unlikely to very unlikely then.

Let’s hope GR isn’t truly cursed and inherits a donkey of a new regs Mercedes just as he gets the big seat after years of dragging that Williams around
