Only hindsight will tell us if we and/or the government have made the right decisions at the right time. Personally I think we need to be able to get industry going in but in as safe a way as possible. Very difficult in some circumstances like large building sites, as I have witnessed last week. The problem is that if we don't try and get the money flowing then by the time things do get better there will be fuck all cash left in the government and private industry for a bounce to happen.ZedLeg wrote: Sun May 10, 2020 9:19 pmIt is flippant and good for your company for putting the work in but a lot of people in the service industry will be needlessly put at risk if we push to reopen early.McSwede wrote: Sun May 10, 2020 8:44 pm
Back to work safely or people won't have jobs to go back to! We do need to get the economy going but in a safe and responsible manner. At our factory in NW London we are spending a lot of money to try and make it as safe as possible for people to return to work.
The kind of flippant bollocks imaged above does a disservice to responsible businesses who take very seriously their duty of care to their employees. It's just leftie bullshit.
Not talking about you here but I think it’s interesting that a lot of people who were pro brexit regardless of the consequences are now very worried about the economy.
The economy will suffer more if we have to bounce back to this once or twice more over the next year or so.
Furloughing people has been a good thing to help businesses prepare themselves for when things pick up but if the market conditions aren't right when the virus has settled down enough then there will be mass redundancies. We would then see lots of people being released into the worst job market of our lifetimes.
The whole thing is a really difficult juggling act and only in the fullness of time will we see how good or bad of a job we or the Government have done. This hindsight will also be the only true time we can tell whether our government has done the best for the UK in comparison to other Countries.
Unfortunately what I'm seeing more and more are people looking at this an opportunity to score points or drag people down to their level.
