This is a hypothetical want. I love it, but I cannot imagine myself driving it to work because my mental image is of badly-driven chav cars unfortunately:

I always said the JDM cars were more desirable than P1s and this is pretty much the apex of JDM for me; nicer than a 2-dr although a black 1999 STI v5 wagon with OE 5-spoke alloys would be my perfect spec.

There's a ratty old Impreza turbo on fake TE37s parked on my way to work, it's a sledgehammer of nostalgia

V12 Vantage. Silver/black with the factory bucket seats (slightly better headroom).

Cheaper than they used to be, still not quite affordable.

I’d love an early narrow grille low spoiler Impreza classic.

I don’t really care about the image, I think a clean tidy looked after one kind of means you’re not lumped in with the scruffy chav ones anyway.

Then again, I usually have the weirdest, least fitting in car in the work carpark anyway.

I think it’s the colour of that one which puts me off the idea of being seen in it or parking it outside my office. A black wagon, even with gold wheels, wouldn’t give the same sad sack vibes.

Black wagons - particularly the hawkeye - were for only the coolest dudes in town. 8-)

I think that the bug eyes had a genuine sti wagon which for me is almost as cool at the p1.

That’s what my other half wants if we ever win the Euromillions. Same colour too

I was very tempted by one instead of the GTS but 2 seats doesn't really work.

If I get to the point where I move out of London to somewhere where I don't have to do a significant drive to get to good roads (and therefore don't need to drag the family along) I would still be tempted. I think these are at the bottom of their value curve pretty much and should start to appreciate.

That having been said... if I were going two seater - 458s are now softening to around the 100k mark...

This is more or less the same money as the blue classic, probably rarer and as cool in my eyes and undoubtedly a better daily.

That is an interesting one - I see where you’re coming from but I don’t think the Imprezas post-Hawkeye are special enough even if rare. I’d have a GR Yaris in preference as a daily.

It’s a timelessly gorgeous shape (if anything it looks even better now). I also really enjoyed the feel of the primary controls in the V8 vantage I tried. Everything felt weighted exactly as it should, meaty without being weighty. It made it even more of a pleasant drive. With more power its beautiful balance would be just right.

You're 100% correct, but I could probably make an exception for this one. Comparing the 2 shows how little they really changed despite the numerous iterations.

I still hanker for a van. Vans are great. Today it's this one with a slightly odd spec.

Manuel - as a posh van, Vianos are usually autos.
6-seater - as they're usually bought as taxis, 8-seater is the norm with two bench seats, sometimes a 7-seater, a 6-seater is rare.
Half leather - not sure I've ever seen that before. Less sweaty. Good.
Looks like a Westfalia tow bar - the factory option and not cheap.

Plus nice wheels & some gentle side skirts.

And fairly local.

Through some internet browsing rabbit hole*, leading to a random car-related fact of the day, I have immediately acquired a desire for a 1966 Toyota Corona.

*investigating holidays for later in the year
-> seeing Cape Verde is quite warm
-> browsing it on Google Maps
-> spotting a shipwreck that's still there
-> wondering how it got there, finding it ran aground
-> looking at it's past life on wikipedia and related Roll On Roll Off ferries that it worked alongside
-> Finding out that the RT43 Car Equivalent Unit by which car ferries are measured, is based on a 1966 Corona!
-> Seeing this slightly modified and studio-lit one that looks ace, imo

Sadly, or probably for the best, I can see none currently for sale.

:D 8-)

Your want isn't for ownership, your want is to road trip to Cape Verde in one.

The roads are shite there, you’d be better off in a hilux.

Holiday to car in less than 10 chess moves is a great effort Jon

Watched a new tube channel called Dadcars on the Ferrari FF. It has confirmed my lust and that they are a bargain at a mere 100k.
