Saw a new 220i earlier. Looked great, very nicely proportioned.

I saw one in dark purple earlier. Couldn't tell if it was a 220 or something perkier but it seemed quite pleasing in a dark colour. Not bad at all.

I think the new 2 series is one of the few if not the only one that looks embarrassed.

I saw a new 7 series again but it had an illuminated grill - I don’t think I’d pick that option.

Never made it past the prototype stage unfortunately. Could have been a belter….
Back in the day - when I had my 2.0 MG Maestro - one of the company cars that people got to borrow when they had to do a short trip was an R19 16V. I only got to drive it about 4 miles, but much of that was bouncing off the limiter. I was so jealous of its chunky 137bhp output!

I really liked my R19 16v - it went well for what is nowadays not a lot of bhp.

Cars weighed shit all though. The Clio was <1t - 980kg IIRC. I can't imagine the R19 weighed much more. That would be like having a 3 series sized car these days with over 270bhp, so its actually fairly comparable.

This, and outside of your sales rep spec Ford or Vauxhall cars tended to be low geared, with max speed close to the rev limiter in top, so they felt more responsive. At 114mph my first car, a 1990 Fiesta was almost off the rev counter...

My mate had a Phase 2 in the 90s and I remember vividly it letting go at 150mph chasing another mate on a Honda Blackbird on the way to Aberdare Races

A metro GTi would vmax at about 123mph ( it’s been a while ) at the 6750rpm limiter in top

19? I'd be amazed if it V-maxed at 150

I've seen 130 on the clocks of the Clio and that was almost topped out, and I imagine the 'box would have been the virtually the same ratios. Then a Xsara VTS cruised past me...

Ferrari 812 Comp in Burgundy on dealer plates. Not a great looker, almost Lamborghini levels of gaudy.

Probably not as gaudy as teh Lambo Urine I saw today in classy ol' Wilmslow. Yellow, with black infill panels, and ALL* THE TAT stuck on
*I really do mean ALL the tat. Think of any car-related tat - it was stuck on this monstrosity.

A car I didn’t know existed.
Yes the rear legroom is very impressive (and this is with the rear seat in the reclined position) but…. what do you do with it all?
