I still like that but can see things I’d prefer done differently - the rear diffuser for instance, I’d omit.

Does make me wonder if they’ll jump the shark at some point though.

I looked at the eBay ad for this S600L estate and it showed £225,000. I looked at the auction when it was live and it was up to £60-65k from memory but wasn't near the end. Sadly Carhuna who ran the auction don't show the hammer price - that's pretty unusual with online auctions so seems a bit scammy. I've not seen definitively what it went for but someone has posted below this video that it was around £130k. Which seems utterly mental.



It's a recent conversion, LHD doesn't add any value even if it is rarer than the official Sultan of Brunei cars, it doesn't have a Zonda engine but a standard 6.0 as far as I can tell (and despite the ad trying very hard to oversell it), and the only AMG bits seem to be bumpers, sills, wheels and exhaust tips. I can see the buyer being pretty disappointed in this.

i'm sure the conversation of "I don't want the rear diffuser" would be met with "Ok". They say its pretty much customisable with the spec.

I'm sure they could - and they could leave off the other stuff which is OTT and gauche too, and make a modern replica of an RS2000. But if that's what they're showing then they run the risk of going down the same road as Singer and producing ugly crap rather than the sort of tasteful restomods Tuthill do.

I wonder how they look up close in the flesh. The arch extensions with the fake vents which are just black vinyl look like something a 17 year old would bolt onto their Corsa. Cars like these are made up in the details and it’s so far giving me fibreglass GT40 vibes.

If they make versions I don't want in addition to versions I do.... then I'm not really bothered.

I'm not a fan of those Singers above, and if I was heading down that route I'd probably be at Tuthill's door first.

I expect MST are answering a request to create something more extreme with X-pack styling rather than the Grp4 arches, but I don't know the facts.

Porsche milking the 992.1 generation cars by releasing the 911 Turbo 50th anniversary edition today. After the 992.2 normal models have been launched. It's basically visuals but they've done a nice tartan optional heritage interior (optional - why not standard? It's a special edition specifically to celebrate their heritage).



Now, how long until they do a heritage pasha interior?

Edit: the tartan interior is standard - the heritage pack seems to be external visuals only. If you select Aventurine Green it forces you to have the £11,740 heritage pack; alternatively you can pay for Paint To Sample Aventurine Green for just under £9k and avoid the rest of the pack. Bizarre.

I’ve always thought that there are a lot of negatives to these quality wise, but at a price that’s 10k less than an mx5 I feel like that could be overlooked.

We are related to a now elderly and retired ex porsche mechanic, for as long as I can remover he has maintained that anything post mid 90s is trash and but to a price, it has also ways stuck in my mind for a car costing 5 or 6 figures. At mid 20s can this be forgiven a little?

I think the bigger question is, what do I want from a 2nd car.

It might be forgiven if you know it could be rebuilt by Hartech for £10k and would then become a £30k car. Though you're going to have a second car which you initially don't trust, then can't use while it's rebuilt, and then where you've sunk £10k into it so feel you have to sort out every other minor niggle.

I'd say a 996 Turbo would be more appealing to me since it doesn't have the inherent issues with the engine. But it's pricier and older so anything perishable will need replacing by now. I think the interior styling has aged better than the 997's though.

The problem with looking at 991s is that £x will get into x and man maths can quickly conclude that a car with options costing more that the first car you started looking it is better buy.
