I love those, too much money for me, although I doubt you’ll lose any on one.
Have actually thought about a motocompo to keep at the farm so if I leave my car at work or at a pub I can ride it back the next day to pick it up

Work colleague turned up in a 2010 R8 V10 Spyder today, his first performance car (I've sent him a link to Andy Walshe days!)
44k miles
Dolphin Grey
Magnaride
Sounds nice
Single clutch robotised manual which is 'a pain in the ass, but getting used to it'
Tasty, but apparently gets all the attention. As in a crowd of people around it every time he comes back to it in a car park, he hates it

What a way to start performance car ownership hope he did due diligence if he's a NCG, they can throw out horrendous bills.
If he gets too big for his boots, remind him he bought the wrong gearbox

Yeah he's wanted one since they came out so well pleased for him He's got two years warranty with Autoguard... Hope he doesn't need it.
What's the price difference for a manual or DSG? This one was mid forties I believe.
Had the joy of showing him this video this morning, he'd never seen it

I saw an M3 estate in that highlighter yellow colour yesterday. Looked ace tbh.
Also saw a BMW XM in matte black and gold, looked shit.

Very nice - I'm a fan of them (in solid roof & Spanish waiter gearbox spec though)

It's fairly significat, IIRC - the manual V10 is seen as 'the one to have'. He'll have the R-Tronic, which they say to avoid, instead going for the later S-Tronic which is supposed to be a lot better if you want the auto.
If he's not really a car person and just wants it because it looks and sounds nice, then the above would never be a factor anyway.

Sounds identical to F1 360 ownership - mine was low/mid forties too.
Except I've never had "a crowd of people around it every time he comes back to it in any car park" so unless he lives in a small village in rural Africa I'm calling that out as a massive exaggeration
I've seen people taking sneaky photos of it though. Always young boys. Never grown-ups.

To continue the comparison, wrt the F1 gearbox, it's not entirely a PITA, but I'd agree on the "getting used to it" part. Despite the tech stats I'm not convinced it's either faster or better than a manual. I'll guess the Audi is similarly afflicted.

TBF it was my exaggeration, he said that happened at a service station on the way home from collecting it and he was fed up of it then

I went to a mates farm to use his printer in my S2 Elise and when I came out it was surrounded by about 20 Eastern European fruit pickers. Two of them were trying to crawl underneath it.

Many years ago I had a race with an S1 Elise while I was in my 325i Sport. We were both ragging it through a bunch of roundabouts and straights. Coming off one of the roundabouts, there was a bunch of kids at the side of the road who cheered us on, I felt like we'd provided a public service to enlist some future CGs

1. 10+ years ago I had the VXR8 and met up with Maurice (Z4M) and Nef in his Westie. We stopped for some food and as we came out a bus full of approx 15yr old School kids parked up. Literally the full bus ran over to paw over the Westie and we were delayed about 5 mins as Nef let several sit in the drivers seat for photo’s. The other cars were completely ignored….
2. Up at viewpoint just along from Glenshee. Fairly large group of us. Driving buddy ScottF had his Atom. A group of us were chatting in front of it. Suddenly there were 10+ excited Japanese tourists among us with cameras. Scott politely answered their questions. The last guy to leave was particularly excited and zooming in on car details with his camera - he tried to ask a question but his English wasn’t so great. Eventually we realised he was asking if it could also go in water?

I love R8s, always have done and they've aged spectacularly. That's a perfect first sports car to have, well done him Any pics?
