Yeah, it drinks fuel when colds around town, but it's a fairly big six, that's not a shock.

I've just noticed something on the Yeti that now irritates muchly; you adjust the ac in 1 degree steps while it displays the set temp to .5 degrees. I may rtfm but I can't imagine it's switchable.

I don't mentioned the Bora much here (mainly 'cause it's boring) but it recently ticked over 100k miles, and it continues to be a great car - being Highline spec means the heated leather seats are lovely in this weather. That being said, the old 2.0 8v 115bhp engine isn't the best, and only being 5 speed means it's a bit short geared, so anything over 60mph/3k and the MPG drops off a cliff.

Biggest issue is I've never managed to fix the slight leak on the passenger side footwell. It's a common issue coming from the pollen filter housing, but it's been fixed once before and returned. It's only enough to slightly dampen the corner even during heavy weather, but enough to make the car smell....it's a shame, because it ruins what is otherwise a great car in fantastic condition for it's age, but it's a relatively expensive fix.

So despite the fact I'll break up the Bora/Evora combo (Bevora? Evbora? Boravora?) I'm quite tempted to look for something else....like a 1.8 Yeti, or Octavia vRS, or 159.

I'm also still waiting on collecting the Evora. Apparently the AC units have a known manufacturing fault, and they're not shipping any more until it's resolved....and there's no ETA, so who knows how long that will be.

Based on the noises the car was making by the end of the event I think I’ve finished off the rear beam bushes, and broken one or both engine mounts. Apart from that the car behaved superbly. Photos will follow in due course. In-car cameras were not allowed as it was on MOD land, and spectators weren’t allowed on the course so it’ll only be the official photographer that has any decent pics. The best I can do for now is a pic of me slightly off-roading the Touareg in the paddock

(we came 8th out of 15 in our class, I’m happy with that on a first attempt)

Indeed. You know Lotus charge £1500+VAT for that AC unit? It's a $200 part from a Toyota Rav4!

I do like the 330i E46.

It's hard to explain, but the march of progress ruins it for me whilst but I still hanker for these oldies.

Then I remember there are kids in Fiestas that would spank what I remember as a sophisticated tour de force.

And so it loops.

The march of progress - I remember when the E36 328i came out and the 2nd hand car place I worked at had one come in. It felt like the fastest car in the entire world, as did the Golf VR6 that was sat next to it. Barely adequate nowadays IMO.

That said the old Audi is still quick enough, and the big lusty N/A engine mit manuel means it ain't being sold for a looooooooong time.

Yeah, I've been in a few significantly quicker cars over the years, but the 330 is definitely pokey enough to be entertaining.

I mean, it's only 230bhp, remember. Not that much at all nowadays.
