The Oddsockeaters

or Lichozrouti to give it it's Original Czech title.

Really enjoyed this for what is, a Kids animation film. Think typical Disney storyline but illustrated by true artisans (rather than the usual Pixar "engine driven" animation where all the characters look the same etc) and the street scenes of Prague are awesome. It loses nothing in the English dub which (I think) was done by the original Czech voice artists...

Loved it more than I should for a 44 year old...

A Prayer Before Dawn

True harrowing story of UK boxing lad who ended up in Thai prison.
As brutal as you would expect.

Good tho

I fancied watching that over the weekend but I couldn't find a decent stream. Joe Cole is a great actor.
An absolute unit

Crazy Rich Asians as mildly diverting and amusing a romcom as you'd expect. Apart from the frankly ridiculous conceit than anyone would kick the hypnotically beautiful Gemma Chan out of bed.

Ocean's Eight

Oh FFS. I actually enjoyed this - If you liked the other Oceans, it's like that - the same if anything - but with girls. Go in with that expectation, enjoy the ladies and don't tell Nathan.

Anne Hathaway in particular - goddamn what a fine young(ish) lady she is.

Mile 22

Didn't know what to expect, only thing I knew was what I'd read about Mark Wahlberg's extreme fitness routine building up to it.

Starts out a bit wanna-be Bourne, but then twists interestingly. Some chunky plot holes aside, it is wall to wall action and time passes unnoticeably.

Oh - and the second Sicario - Day Of The Soldado

I don't give a fuck how much you liked the first one, if you liked it all - don't bother with this follow-up. It goes from being cliched to turgid to just about OK at midway then a bit confusing then downright fucking weird to fizzling out at the end.

Just avoid it.

Went to see Venom last night. Wasn't expecting much for some reason but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Some of the symbiote vs symbiote fight scenes were confusing - stringy shit everywhere.

I saw a couple of reviews which said exactly that when it came out in the cinema, so my mind was made up, but every time I remind myself just how amazing the original was, I'm tempted to buy the sequel next week. Thank you for reminding me not to.

Holy shit, in writing this I've just seen the previous message below and zippy has given Venom 8/10.
Cheers,

Mike.

I’m wanting to watch First Man at the BFI IMAX next week. I’ve not seen a proper film at an IMAX before, but I think this might be worth it

Also looking forward to the new Halloween movie. I’m sure it’ll be awful, but it’ll be the sort of awful that I enjoy

I managed to see two films at the cinema recently and that was one of them. I thought it was great - and an excellent bit of background to Sing for those of us, like me, who never knew you could call it that without being horrifically racist ;)

Also saw King of Thieves. Not about Robin Hood's dad but the second film about the Hatton Garden heist in a year. It was fairly good, certainly enjoyable for the cast and the amusement of the flashback clips to the actors' previous heist movies.

I saw this and thought it was OK, as you say, the use of old footage of the actors was great. I think I preferred The Hatton Garden Job from last year, though.

Classics are classics from a reason. In 40 years time no one will be watching Black Panther.

Just watching some crap on Sky the last few evenings.

Murder On the Orient Express - not my type of movie but I ended up enjoying it as it kept me guessing. 6/10

Fast and Furious 8 - I’ve missed the last 5 before this one so 12 years of maturing haven’t been kind to it - that said I imagine I didn’t think much of the third one hence I stopped bothering with the series but what utter wank this one was. 3/10
How about not having a sig at all?
