Unlikely to get a/c on a S1 I believe?

Can't say I've ever felt the need for it in an open car, I'd probably just be happy the weather was decent for a change!

Some exiges and the malaysian market elises had it and it doesn't work in either.

Yep, priorities and requirements may change as the thread goes on - that was the point of the thread!

FWIW aircon in my S2 Exige was half decent, which was most handy when taking it to Sorrento! I can't remember the last time I drove something open topped when it was properly hot.

I've just had the AC serviced in the S3 - its icy cold and works well.

RichB can absolutely see his own dick (TM Ste) and will demonstrate this by not being swayed into a S2 or newer.

i’m keeping an open mind, but i’m S1 focussed. the rest don’t really appeal any more (except an exige S).

The tub isn’t any bigger, they just hacked a lump off the top of the sill to make it easier for middle age chubbers to get in and out of. If you see them bare it looks like they just sliced a section off. Not sure whether the tub was rigid enough to take it as it was, or if they had to reinforce it under it to make up for it.

It knocked about 500 newtons off the torsional rigidity figure but other than that there were no other mods to the S2 chassis until they changed the rear section to bolt (heavier) toyota subframes on.

I've got a lovely SVA Sport 160 in at the moment that i've just fitted vernier pulleys to, retimed the cams and remapped the original GEMS ecu to change the mapping from speed density to alpha-n and now it drives like a normal car but still has all the lovely character that the 160 usually has.

Interesting. It's not always easy to get info on torsional rigidity - the only figures I can find for the Elise are in the 10,000 to 10,500 Nm/deg range.

I was also idly looking for Evora info (as they thinned the sills on the later 4xx cars) but I can't find anything that would confirm any change? (Evora chassis seems to be around the 26,500 Nm/deg - which makes sense as it's considerably bigger & heavier than Elise).
