Was it knocked before they’d driven it/serviced it?MikeHunt wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 2:30 pm Not sure how its stands based on what @Beany said. Id left it with them and parked it outside their garage in the place they told me to park, but it is a pubic area, eg no barrier etc and anyone could drive there from the road.

Sounds like a load of balls to me. Sorry - appreciate it is not a time for levity but I couldn't resist.
Beany is correct that given it was outside and damage caused by a third party they may have difficulty claiming under their own insurance but agree they should try that avenue first.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Equally annoying that they asked me to get the car there for 830 and it was still waiting at 1100, Im not a morning person and thats virtually the middle of the night
Re: Your fleet running reports
Pains me to say it, but I think you're gonna be outta luck there.
I'd take a deep breath, let the frustration leave your body like a dark cloud, and then think about approaching them in a more "how can we help each other" sort of manner - they're likely to be more open to that and it might help save some headaches if they can, for eg, provide CCTV or a written statement confirming the situation - the sort of thing that would stop the other parties insurance from trying to go 50/50 at a stroke, etc.
If you go in with an attitude, I guarantee you'll find they're booked up for months in advance any time you contact them in future.

Is that Oldbury? Shit luck and I hope the bumper matches. Since that'd be more my concern than anything else, I'd be talking nicely to them so that they take the very best care of it and check their work thoroughly. It'll be paid for by someone else whatever, so exactly who isn't really an issue for you to worry about. Ultimately you'd either have a direct claim against the person who did it, or the garage would themselves bring them in as a third party if you claimed against them, so the end result is the person who did it's insurance will pay.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Beany is correct however if this is a big main dealer I’d expect them to get their shit together and sort it, otherwise I’m sure an email to someone important would get it done. If it’s a smaller place I’d never use them again.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Your fleet running reports
If it's a smaller place, and they're on the defensive straight away I'd agree.Mito Man wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 3:13 pm Beany is correct however if this is a big main dealer I’d expect them to get their shit together and sort it, otherwise I’m sure an email to someone important would get it done. If it's a smaller place and they offer up CCTV and a letterheaded statement, I'd stick with them.
You can't blame them for another customer being a twonk, but you can blame them if they immediately bunker down and fuck you off rather than asking what they can do to help out, within reason.

Is it worth a call to your insurance company and asking them who should be responsible in their opinion?
Was the damage where you had left it or was it in another location they had moved the car to? My uneducated opinion is to think the responsibility should lie with the last person to operate the vehicle

I'm with Beany. This is exactly why places have those "left at owner's risk" notices in their car parks.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Ultimate responsibility always lies with whoever hit it. If Gavin were to pursue the garage, they would pursue the person who did the damage so it just adds an unnecessary layer to a claim. But the garage can ease the hassle.jamcg wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 4:28 pm Is it worth a call to your insurance company and asking them who should be responsible in their opinion?

my mate took his M3 touring in to have the brakes checked, someone crashed into the back of it whilst they were on their test drive and broke the read carbon diffuser. They haven’t asked him to involve his insurance in any way.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Sorry I meant responsibility to deal with the 3rd party insurance rather than the party responsible for the damage, as in if it was him who parked it then it would be his responsibility to deal with their insurance, or if it was an employee last to drive it they should do the legworkJobbo wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 4:42 pmUltimate responsibility always lies with whoever hit it. Re: Your fleet running reports
I think that's a far clearer case though > not the dealership's fault, but vehicle clearly received damage whilst they undertook the services/activities they are providing (and charging you for).Rich B wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 4:44 pm my mate took his M3 touring in to have the brakes checked, someone crashed into the back of it whilst they were on their test drive and broke the read carbon diffuser. I'm hoping it's as pain-free as that for Mr Hunt, but I suspect not.

Sunday night, around 10pm, and tonight, at a similar time which must be a coincidence, the Yeti alarm has triggered. On Sunday I went round reopened / checked the doors were all closed again, locked it up, no more random alarms until tonight. Any ideas what that could be. Battery playing up? A dodgy or wet connector somewhere?
