Not long after the sixth generation came out I rented one in Washington, which was brand new developed a serious oil leak after 200 miles, so I took it back and they swapped it for a 5th gen like yours, which I then did about 600 miles in. The 5th gen had so much more character, and aside from the average brakes was definitely a more enjoyable car to drive.

That's interesting and I've heard others say the same. I have been tempted by the newer gens, and they're obviously very accomplished cars, but I just love the old school, raw feel of these older Mustangs - something you don't get anymore. They sound great, too. Always gets attention everywhere we go!

But he really is excellent. The work was beautifully done and the price was very fair.

The issue I had was nothing to do with his work - it was the car's Loudmouth exhaust that was operating virtually unrestricted once the sports cats went on. But he's fixed that for me and in less than two hours. Can't complain at all.

Haha, that's awesome! Basically what the GT-H was made for. I've not been to the USA, but must be a little surreal doing donuts in the desert, in a Mustang, seemingly in the middle of nowhere

yeah, we drove it from Vegas to the grand Canyon - the big sky walk thing on the Westrim… which was fine until the paved road finished and we had to do about 15 miles of off-road.

It was funny seeing everyone else in big 4x4s and us bouncing along with fuck all ground clearance trying to avoid the bigger rocks. Thankfully i had full CDW insurance which the guy at Hertz said i could “bring it back in a box”.

Bloody BMW decided to put an intelligent battery sensor in the E60. Sadly, it's caught Donny T's dementia and been very very not intelligent. Firstly it threw a voltage issue and needed the negative cable from the battery replaced and then spat it's dummy out with a resistance issue. I've just had to resort to cutting a cable and soldering in a 2 ohm resistor which appears to have fixed it.

However, as a 21 year old car, as well as dementia, it's incontinent. It's pissing coolant out of the inlet side of the EGR cooler. With a bit of luck, the tuna will just be replacing the o rings but we'll see.

In all the digging through the codes, the car is also telling me that it's running low on glow plugs as 2 are dead. That can be a job for later in the year when I also swap the swirl flaps and hoik the crap out of the inlet manifold.

What's the conversion for car years to human years?

Sounds like it's about 50 based on my experience of decrepitude Has it ever had an IBS controller before? They were mentioned on here recently; I think they don't work by the time they're 6/7 years old frankly, so replacing with a resistor seems a sensible idea.

I ran the X5 without one for at least a year after the original decided to tell the alternator not to charge and leave us stranded on the A303.
