£100! For bulbs? I should hope they fucking evaporate small animals in your path for that much.

And Mik, spotted yesterday:

Oh, and nearly 4 weeks later, still waiting on parts before I can collect the Evora. It'll be snowed in soon being that far north of the wall and I'll have to wait until spring.

Based on a quick search on YouTube I'm inclined to say yes.

HID innit.

And £50 is about the cheapest you can get them if you want a brand name.

If I wandered into a BMW dealer to get one for my 5-Series, they'd relieve me of over £200

Matt - i did a Fred on the Loltus forum that you should be able to see (not sure if non-forum-members can). clicks. Not much interest - I assume the average Evora owner eats lots of carrots. :) Good luck picking up your car - the only vehicles on the road up here now are 4WD with studded tyres, or snowmobiles.

Grumble bastards fvkers ect....

I purchased a set of the new "Laser" nightbreakers for the golf..120% brighter than miks ones for a "Bargain" price...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OSRAM-Xenarc ... true&rt=nc

However...the sneaky bastard had put the original bulbs back in the box and tried to palm them off as the "Laser" ones.

I now have a refund

Also loads of the eBay ones are fake, I wasn’t aware of it till my electrician said he bought a fake Osram and melted the wiring loom in his lights, came in a sealed actual packaging too with certificate. Pretty easy to tell the difference on the actual bulb if you’re aware of it though.

You can check. The box has a code on it which you can enter on the osram website. It will then tell you the serial numbers of the bulbs that should be in that specific box.

Too late for me now as I binned the boxes and can’t be bothered going through the hellish process of spending a day trying to fish out the bulbs to check. I would assume if they were fake they would have either blown themselves or something in the wiring after 6 months though.

I saw those on eBay the other day and nearly posted them up on here

The sill jacking points on e36s are so handy. Usually pretty strong too as long as it totally rotten. I often jack mine up on one point with the standard jack to get both wheels on that side off the ground.

I also dropped a few quid on bulbs, although not quite as much as SJ. The candles in the 330 seemed a bit weak so got some GE Megalight 150% brighter jobs from Halfrauds as I was passing, because that's basically how lazy I am, and how little I plan ahead, and they're generally agreed to be not the very best, but better than Halfords own jobs and certainly better than your boggo dealer fit items.

Anyway, already long story slightly shorter, I put one of 'em in upside down thanks to BMWs weird captive socket arrangement thing. Noticed it was a bit off straight away but couldn't quite work out why. I mean, the tab is between the two posts on the holder, right....?

Yup, but the wrong set of tabs. Swap em around, and bang, nice clean light output again.

I swear to fuck, with this and the Mondeo, I think I'd have been better just banging an HID projector setup in it, at least then I'd know it was going to be annoying.

Anyway, I know the trick now.

If you've never owned an E46, you literally just plug the bulb into this holder thing then use the tabs to lock that piece into the housing. Yes, you can put the bulbs in the wrong way and they'll light up.

Image

Not a bad system once you, er, pay attention to it.

So yes, I'm an idiot, but I worked it out, so yay me.

Oh, also, I'm now regularly driving with the TC and DSC off because I'm familiar enough with the car to know when the DSC is kicking in and as (IIRC) RichB mentioned, it gets annoying, fast.

My mrs had some bulbs stuck in by Halfords. They did the same and got them sort of wedged in, but it was obviously wrong. That and the way the holders rotate into place isn't the most logical design ever.

Still, at least it can be done without dismantling the entire front end

Well yeah, that is a bonus. It's a nice and well thought out design, could just do with being better marked up for bulb orientation, is all.

My recent bulb changing experiences have been similar to the scene in the Teeth where the gynaecologist goes to examine the lady and ends up losing his fingers.
