As Aston Martin f1 move into their new factory they’re flogging what looks like everything that’s not tied down from the old place

Like I said- flogging anything that’s not tied down. One way to get around the budget cap

Hardly a surprise, when it comes to your tastes, is it?

I feel like I should like this, but the proportions just look wrong, and the overall scale is just too big

Agreed. I'd like to see the base Boxster done in the same colour, trim, wheels to compare to that. For a straight purchase I'd rather go for this;

or for less monies this (pity the reg couldn't be kept here);

said no one, ever.
I'm a bit unsure of it as presented; which bits were done for MB at the time and what's been done since? Monkey should have done a vid on it to satisfy my curiosity.

Stretchy Escalade. The photo looks like someone did some trickery with the panoramic setting on their phone

Hey, that’s cool as fu… oh balls…. Check the price.

Seeing this always reminds be of an ex-colleague who had a nice Mk1 RS2000 that he’d owned for years - driving it sparingly. He was a long way from wealthy, but kept it good. It was stolen from his lockup about 12yrs ago - he reluctantly took the insurance money at the time (he just desperately wanted it back), but it would be worth a small fortune now.

Yeah, Mk2 Escorts have always been a lot cheaper than the Mk1.
<laments yet again about selling his Mk1 Mexico for £900 in about 2001>

I had a brief p-ride in his car - we reached 80 and it was howling at 4500rpm in top (4th). This only served to cement my preference for the mk2

TBF, the gearing in my Compact is about the same !
Edit1:
Exacerbated by running smaller than normal tyres right now, it works out like this:
Code: Select all
RPM MPH
8000 138.0
7500 129.4
7000 120.8
6500 112.2
6000 103.5
5500 94.9
5000 86.3
4500 77.6
4000 69.0
3500 60.4
3000 51.8
2500 43.1
2000 34.5
1500 25.9
1000 17.3
Edit2:
I was just about topping out in 3rd at Kemble, 3rd is 1:1.66, so I think that makes 120.8 / 1.66 = 73mph. Not too shabby.
1st - 1:4.20
2nd - 1:2.49
3rd - 1:1.66
4th - 1:1.24
5th - 1:1.00
