Saw a lotus Carlton on the way to work today. Don’t know if it was a real one or not but looked convincing enough as we passed each other at 60mph each way.

Looked small amongst modern traffic.

Possibly not quite the right thread, but not sure it warrants its own one, Cars of Thailand

The cars we saw were predominantly Japanese in origin endless Hiluxs, Isuzu DMaxs, L200s, Navaras and some Mazda BT50s in amongst endless C-segment cars. Interestingly we barely saw any Korean cars and only a few Chinese (GWM Havals and Ora Funky Cats).

The most represented non-Japanese brand was Ford. Loads of Rangers and its SUV sibling the Everest.

Most cars were fairly recent/very new which I was a bit surprised about.

Of the things we'd normally take note of there were only a few: a 458, C43 Coupe and a 997 C4S.

Apart from that notable spots were a 70s Corolla, Saab 9000 and 9-5, Volvo 940 and three tidy looking W124s and two not-so-tidy W201s.

And for the name alone the Toyota Fortuner warrants a mention.

Cringeworthy numberplate, doubly so as it’s on a diesel Infiniti

On the dog walk yesterday I saw this angle of a car and assumed it was a Panamera something-or-other, albeit riding a bit high, but its on a slope so wasn't quite sure, but it was a Kia Proceed. So much for what I thought I new about cars.

Next was a stop to BMW to pickup the new grille for the M2. When waiting for it I noticed that those new badges & caps you can get on M cars at the moment for the 50th anniversary, are just for sale for any car. Because of course they are. I assumed they were some sort of limited thing.

They also had an M240i in Thundernight which is that nice purple colour they've used for the new Z4 and a couple of other models in recent years. I didn't have time to get decent pictures and it was an overcast day, but the colour looks very nice indeed. Much darker than these pictures suggest and I guess it's another one which is going to be changeable depending on light.

Not a real life spotted but a slightly strange digital one. Did the pcv hazard perception test lastnight and one of the videos starts with a Passat w8 parked on the roadside

Two hours before An early Zonda in silver on trade plates drove by me - a road worthy non-Cosworth Scorpio is probably rarer these days!

I like that, it's silly but it's probably been built reasonably well. The certification process is pretty tough to pass for project cars like that.

Following on with another Streetview spot, and relevant to DaveE's thread content; https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0986969 ... 56!5m1!1e1

A nice collection; https://www.google.com/maps/@51.1300486 ... 312!8i6656

Someone stopped overnight here in their camper earlier in the year - Carlos? - so I had a look for next time I go that way. A nice place, but Streetview brings more want than just the roadtrip and weather; https://www.google.com/maps/@58.1151073 ... 384!8i8192

It was me. I hadn't read before clicking the link and thought, hang on a minute!

It was billed as being a bit more exciting. In reality it was the wrong side of the coast for the sunset, nowhere to pee within 250 yards and not much to do in the town so you'd only stay there if you really needed to.

Ah, I got the 'K' sound at the start right at least
Somewhere to sleep will be good enough for me, knowing places you can stop in advance helps with pacing the journey. Next time I'll take the old road rather than the flyover because I like that sort of thing, a pity the old hairpin and hill out the other side have gone now though (for sightseers/tourists, I can't imagine it's missed by those using the road for work).
I'd like to go somewhere where you really needed the capabilities of that Merc :P
