FECPOTY 05?
I can’t remember what other people on the forum bought that year though
I bought my Clio v6
I bought a focus 1.8!
I didn't buy anything in '05 , but worked my way through three company cars -
XC90 T6 SE
C70 2.4T Cab
XC90 D5 SE
Is it sad that I've kept a spreadsheet of the cars that I've owned/had as a company car, or driven far enough to form an opionion on them?

I didn't buy any cars in 2005. I did buy my green E34 Touring with green leather interior in May 2006.

My M2 came on Yokohama Advan Sport V107 which appear to be highly rated and G87 M2 specific.
My own experience has been great in the dry, mediocre in the wet and frankly terrifying in the cold as temps get down to near zero. I appreciate its dangerous rwd with circa 470bhp but even with the tc all on it will move around considerably in wet weather, it will try and spin the wheels when kicking down on the motorway at 80+.
I've only done 3500 miles in 15 months so struggling to justify changing the tyres to P4s which may not be any different.

I'm in charge of FECPOTY, boy.
Pfffft
You're never actually in charge of FECPOTY. You merely look after it for the next generation.
i think i bought this in 2005 from Gavster:
then my CTR in 2006.

I struggle to comprehend these are a 45 year old design, they still look great with the M-Sport bits on
Although I also struggle with the £50k asking price you see them at

I bought a poverty spec 1.3l ford ka with the black bumpers and everything from my mam for £1500.
I traded it in for £3000 when I got my sportka in 2006

Pretty sure I bought the m3 in 2006. An online check shows last V5 was issued in 2013 though. Was that when dvla sent out replacements after they had a load stolen?

Nope, never had a plate change.
I’m sure at some point they changed green v5s to red ones, I should probably go check the actual V5s I have
My e36 says it had a new v5 Oct 2011, I put my plate on it may or June 2010 as it was a 30th birthday present and would have got a v5 then.
Or maybe it’s just the reg check sites being wrong with older data.

My wife had one, chosen for the colour, blue. It wasnt great on fuel for a small car but handled well.
There was an upgrade kit available with cams, manifold and ecu taking it to 120bhp.

Mine did 27mpg if you tickled the throttle and near enough the same if you ragged it everywhere

Mrs mik’s gave around 35mpg as it was the relatively rare non-PAS version - which had longer gearing from memory. Steering surprisingly heavy for a little car.

That 1.3 Endura engine was fucking awful though

it was all noise, vibration and no power.

It really was crap, should have sold it with the 1.25 zetec

The 1.6 wasn’t terrible, it just ate fuel to give the power it had. It should have had something more powerful but then it would have been faster than a fiesta zetec s, and knocking on the door of the st, so was a victim of “this can’t be better than that”.
I don’t miss the gearknob in this weather though, while a beautifully machined piece of solid aluminium, it was fucking freezing in winter

I think by that time it probably only cost Ford about 50p to make them, given that the same engine had been around for so long with a different name when they altered the fuelling.
My first normal car was a 1990 Fiesta 1.1 which needed a head rebuild at 3,000 miles - My great uncle had owned it for seven years from new, and it only went out once a week on full choke to do a 1.5 mile each way trip to the shops, never going above 30mph. When I bought if from him it was a struggle to get to 60mph.
I had the head skimmed and rebuilt (ports cleaned up, new valves) with a twin choke Weber fitted by a local carburettor specialist, and it became quite an enjoyable and revvy motor (still tappety, but they all were), and got 30-40mpg. It would to 6,000rpm in 5th on M1 - 115mph on the optimistic speedo!
Significantly better than the 1.3 Endura in the Fiesta that we had later on, which should never have been put in a car.
