I am die-hard manuel box fan wrt performance cars, but not big SUVs. I would not have chosen manuel for either of our Discos.
I wouldn’t have chosen a manual x5 if they had existed, but I miss not being able to give it the odd blip of throttle now and again without the thing trying to lurch forward

My Disco 3 was a Manuel, not the worst box tbf, decently chosen ratios, not a bad shift for what it was, and the clutch was light.

I keep looking, I have a strong urge to switch the Cayenne for a Disco 4, because my fleet is boringly reliable and I need some excitement in my life.

Well, if it is a project Disco 4 you're after, then I know of one coming up for sale soon! Black, cream leather, auto, probably some nice options. It will need a few bits in the engine bay, as it was torched. Nothing of use left from the A-pillar forwards, quite a bit of damage at the back. Looks like the exhaust caught fire/was hot enough to ignite the rear bumper.

Belongs to a guy around the corner from here. It wasn't a pretty sight.

They're great cars, I'd have another, looked for a V8 Disco 4 for some time, but the 5.0 is no more reliable than the V6 diesel, and a mapped 3.0 would have a lot more pulling power than the V8.

Shame the Disco 5 is nowhere near the car the 4 was.

This looks cool as a kind of pop-up workshop, fit it out with a full length workbench & storage and an awning on the front so you can work under shelter. If I thought I could get away with one in the front garden I'd be right on it 8-)

That's always on my mind with the Cayenne. It's good as a car, and makes a nice noise, but you need to get the revs up to get any urgency from it and I feel a bit of a pillock doing that. Big low end grunt is where it's at. And that needs turbots. The Touareg was awesome in that respect. FFRR TDV8 should be similar - that engine in the Disco 4 is what I need.

Spotted via Twitter : You’d have to REALLY want a Maloo to pay this much over the price of a VXR8

https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/204087979669

Although, apparently this more heavily modified one is “a bargain” :?

That's a lot of money for a bar... :o

A few years ago, the lit up dancefloor from Saturday Night Fever sold for about $50k which was a bargain IMO.

Buy it, build it, and we'll come drink with you (as long as you're serving actual beer).

Not quite eBay, but a VW based Bugatti T35 replica upcoming on Bangers and Cash and rebuilt by my mate Jonny May, whose old VW knowledge knows no bounds.

Clicky

I don't imagine anyone here would be interested-interested, but it's up next weekend with no reserve, and the rebuild episode (and thrashing at Bridlingtons Race The Waves event) should be on the telly later this year.
