I liked Gladiator 2.

Just watched Superman though. Oh dear.

Just watched "The Life of Chuck" the other day — it's based on a short story by Stephen King.
Definitely not a horror film, but a surprisingly uplifting movie about dying and memory. I enjoyed it tremendously.
Bonus points for a few unexpected casting choices — Mark Hamill and Mia Sara (Sloane from Ferris Bueller's Day Off) both appear.
It’s definitely on my shortlist of favorite 2025 films so far.

Gladiator 2 was great, a nice little link with the first one and the flooded coliseum scene was awesome.

Also saw Naked Gun at the cinema, I’ve not laughed so hard in ages. Silly humour but I like that, Liam Neeson was brilliant as Drebins son and Pamela Anderson is as stunning as ever.

The flooded Colosseum was accurate - if you've been there they'll tell you about how they used to divert river water into the Colosseum to create a huge lake in it just for events like that. Incredible.

The Naked Gun. I did laugh quite a lot but it’s a pale shadow on the original Police Squad tv shows and Naked Gun movies. They were full of double entendres and other playing with language, visual gags in the background and so on. This signposted everything and there was less of it. A disappointment for me despite being funny in places.

Superman

A bit busy, but a better effort than anything Snyder has done. It's a bit Gunny but overall pretty watchable.

Police Squad came up in a pub quiz the other night. Can’t believe there were only six episodes made.

My uncle played a gay tailor in the The Naked Gun and had to spend a whole day with his hands down Leslie Nielsen’s pants. The scene was cut from the movie in the end

We watched Superman before we came away on holiday. First thing we did as soon as it was over was to delete it from the server. From the trailer music you think they'd show a bit more respect to the original (Reeve) Superman, but sorry, this was just a mess. Hated it. 3/10.

Slight aside - I always wondered how well the "names gags" went down for cinema viewers? Under Oveue, over Dunn, Howie was a rock etc. They always required several rewinds of the VHS to actually catch the gags properly. Just awesome work

We all watched Airplane last trip home and my kids loved it, they really enjoy the silliness. They didn’t get most of the rude jokes but enjoyed the boobs

They were both roaring with laughter at Spaceballs so will take them to the cinema to see that when it comes out.

Jurrasic Park - Rehash. Utter drivel, scenes blatantly stolen from the original along with scenes from Aliens and a Rancor monster! They really should have stopped after the first one, there hasn’t been one come close since.

Watched the F1 movie not expecting much, it didn’t start too bad and the way it’s filmed is excellent although it always seemed that the opposition cars were looming over the APX GP cars. Leaving aside the pensioner driving the car, the safety car deliberate triggering once was daft… in terms of acting, the chap playing Pearce was hopeless and totally unbelievably, Pitt made the character actually believable despite the ridiculous scenario. Oddly I found Croftys commentary like listening to a normal race but Brundle was like he was reading from a bad script (which he clearly was)

Watched Hallow Road last night which was very good and induced lots of parent-child related anxiety.

The Surfer with Nicholas Cage on Sky Movies.

Odd one this one - It's rare I get to the end of a movie without a clear understanding about what's happened but this could be one of them.

I am not sure if all the subtle little clues throughout in the form of flashbacks and cut shots are really sign posting something critical I've missed or if that's a deliberate distraction and actually, it's just a straightforward "Man holding on, life starts to fall apart, has breakdown" type narrative.

Sadly, a quick search suggests there isn't an answer to this (and ChatGPT can only review a 2007 movie called "The Surfer" which doesn't exists )

I'll give it 5 out of 10 because I just don't know if it's good or bad

I saw that earlier, would love to go but the missus has already booked that night.

We watched F1 and despite the bobbins plot and the stuff they got wrong which I'm sure will get the F1 nerds outraged, it was hard not to get sucked-in thanks to the incredible cinematography. Really enjoyed it.
