Has that been fully diagnosed yet Scott? I would certainly be looking to the selling dealer to cover the repair cost, obviously.

We won't know until the timing cover is off - Which we can't do until the engine is out.

There is a debate over this as i had it on track. However if its a stretched chain or a tensioner fault im not sure how that can be caused by one track day. There are further discussions to be had once i get a full diagnosis.

I feel this pain via the Smart which is basically a Twingo and is noticeable getting flakier (and rattlier as time goes by).

Wouldn't have expected it on something that new though.

After a random non start issue turned out to be a dirty fuse, a misfire was the screw on cap for a relatively new spark plug being loose, I gave the Clio a good run.

It really does make a manic noise between 5000 and 7200. It’s so front end leading it’s great fun, the Kumhos need to go though, in this weather they went off after about 5 minutes of fun driving.

Nor me - there are literally no documented engine issues with them.

You could fight back with it’s a high performance car and thus that is its intended use

But not explicitly a track car. It's not a gotcha for either side but it certainly muddies the waters. Hopefully the dealer weighs it up against maintaining their reputation.

No, if a fault arises in the first 6 months it’s deemed to be present at purchase and it is for the seller to prove otherwise. It’s an automatic, it’s not like it can have been overrevved.

For a consumer sale there are implied terms including durability. It’s obviously not sufficiently durable if it’s broken within a couple of months.

I’m not sure track driving is any worse that you might be able to do on the road.

Understandably they’re not likely to cover cooked brakes, but engines have revlimiters, auto means no missshifts, and you’d hope the engine would be able to cope with the loads the normal road tyres can generate.

Would be different if it had been track modified, running stickier tyres etc.

Unrelated to consumer rights (although I agree with everyone saying stand your fucking ground) but I have found that I often look at the car when walking away and go "ooh" and take a snap.

It has more good angles than I expected.

Not my fleet but a friend has just taken delivery of a 2-year old Cayman GTS and is very pleased with it, other than finding it too noisy. He is apparently going to remove the door cards and put some form of sound deadening inside.

I'm skeptical but it's his motor.

Have done 1,000 miles in my XF now, averaged 42 mpg and now about to put fuel in it for only the second time. I am loving this.

As expected the new tyres and alignment transformed it. It no longer hunts cambers and is very quiet, save for an occasional rattle which I think is coming from the pax seatbelt area. I need to get a gearbox service booked in really, as the local specialist said he was taking bookings into August now.

I too have a case of the Beanies and keep looking back at it. Rhodium Silver metallic really suits it I think

They are lovely things. I very much miss mine. The pre facelift is a bit frumpy but your generation is sleek and imposing.

And bloody long, I remember it overhanging most parking bays!
