Half way through season 1 and really enjoying it. I could probably do without the flash back scenes, but it’s a good way to flesh out characters.

So far, a very worthy BB spin-off
Noticed there's a new season out last night. Might start it tonight.
I like how Better Call Saul has 10 episode seasons. It’s not a huge undertaking to watch it

Bit annoyed that the new season is weekly release. Perhaps it’s on TV somewhere else? Anyway, I’m really, really enjoying it and suggest everyone watches
The last season was also released weekly by Netflix. Isn't that quite usual for a brand new, Netflix-commissioned series?

ETA: not entirely Netflix-commissioned, apparently - its broadcast on AMC on telly so you're right on that score. I have no idea what 'Netflix Original' actually means, then, if it's shown on broadcast telly at the same time.

Netflix Original - also applies to things like the later Arrested Development seasons, they’re certainly not that original

Sometimes they'll slap the Netflix original label on stuff that no one else has the rights to broadcast in the territory you're account is registered in, even if they haven't actually produced it.

Ah, that explains it. Have they released anything which is actually exclusive to Netflix on a staggered basis?

They did a show with Michelle Wolfe that was a current affairs comedy show so that made sense to have a weekly release, I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head.

they don’t hide that though - they plaster a big “Netflix semi original series” on the side of the stair car in the credits.

Richard wrote: Wed Aug 15, 2018 2:33 pm Who is America is getting a bit stale already, isn’t it?

Feels like Sacha got about 3 episodes worth of good content but was asked to stretch it to 7 episodes
I managed approx 15 mins of one episode and had to turn it off. I can't believe he's still getting away with churning out the same old shit! It's awful.

Isn't that getting a bit old now?

I've been watching The Staircase on Netflix. It's the true story (using actual footage) of a chap who was accused of murdering his wife; filmed over many years, and he was a wealthy bloke so asked a camera crew to film what happened.

If you liked Making a Murderer you'll enjoy it; it came first, in fact, and I believe the Making a Murderer producers went to The Staircase's producer for advice. I'm resisting googling anything because I don't want to know the outcome.

Suits

OK - time to call it a day now. The main story arc is over, Mike has buggered off and Rachel married Prince Harry. The "suspense" involves two characters that we don't care about (one of them brand new to the season) and each episode is the same. Shouty shouty reconciliation credits.

The laughs rely on how the interviewee doesn't realise they are being set up, but it is hard to believe this when they are face to face with someone with an obvious mask, wig etc

Disappointing Bernie Sanders was part of it.

Not quite with early Ali G material. People were more naive to hoax interviews almost 20 years ago

I watched the first 2 episodes and didn’t find any of it funny, Ali G had genuine LOL moments whereas with this you keep waiting for it and it never comes.

I watched a couple of episodes of Who Is America, admittedly we were a bit merry, but we were laughing. The people he interviews are just so ridiculous and shocking.

We've just watched Le Mante on Netflix. French serial killer mystery drama.

Back story is that there is a copy cat of an old banged up serial killer who is the mother of a cop. So they bring her and him in to help solve the case. Much drama ensues.

It's good, there are some stupid bits that don't really make sense, but on the whole I'm glad we watched it.

Extra points for people who can figure out where they've seen the serial killer mum before, there's some pictures of her when she was young and it was doing my head in where I'd seen her. Had to look it up.

She was one of the main reasons that FYEO remains the best Bond film, without any question, doubt or challenge.
