Interesting thread. Made the mistake at looking at some of the replies. Glad to see that rather than discussing the core points of the thread, people get upset about whether the location is in the north, whether the author is using the right terminology for the area, and so on.

Just starting to spec up some of the exterior things about the new house and an EV charger is an obvious thing to get put in at the build stage. Is there an easy answer as to what sort of charger (make/model/requirements) I should be putting-in to try and future-proof myself? Or should I maybe just be looking to get the underlying power in there and terminated, so when we buy an EV I can get the most up-to-date charger tech?

The latter IMHO.

You want cable from your fuse box to support one (two?) 7.2kw charger(s).

Thanks, will add that to the list of specs 👍🏻

I expect it's a load cheaper than its neighbours because of that! No way I could live anywhere near that though!

Niro2 landed lunchtime, only managed a short run to drop the driver at the railway station but so far it feels nice, reasonable cabin quality, good ride, perky off these line. High waist/low roof line makes it feel a little close inside, compared to the Civic/Ioniq, but I'll sure I'll manage.

Did you stop to get coffee, stretch your legs and give it a top up on the way? - you would have stopped anyway, so it didn't really bother you... ;)

Arf, but this thing has a range of 280 miles so I'll need to stop for bladder breaks before the car does 😆

Some of the NHS e-car leasing deals are *astonishing*. There is a salary sacrifice thing we can tap into and a mate of mine is eyeing up a deal for £430/month over 3 years on an i-Pace.

This has got me thinking about chopping in the golf for a cayman at last and take out a lease deal on something small that will get me easily to work and back like an ID3.

Friends went for that (or a similar) deal last year. It is a nice place to be.

Ours is through that scheme (I work for the local authority) and some what you think would be expensive cars are good value. Especially taking it into account that everything other than out of the ordinary maintenance is included - servicing, insurance, tyres.
EVs are obviously the best value due to the 1% BIK of these, that you still need to pay for any lease through the scheme

Just monthlies. A charging point was only about £5 extra a month too.
