So, good driving position and good engine. Is that the summary? WTF has BMW been drinking over the last few years?

Makes you wonder why they purposely painted it black? Still not great though.
They painted it black because they know that’s what owners will do. Like putting M stripes on the seats and doors. Odd that they haven’t put M stripes on the grille slats.

Ms definitely do attract their fair share of chav owners.

The old fashion was painting the side bits black/carbon, not the middle though.

Which looks almost as shit.

Maybe they need to do that on a new M2 for a full black splitter 😄

it is allowed!!

To be fair, I thought the e60 was a dogs dinner when I first saw it, and they aged beautifully.

Although I’m an admitted BMW fanboy (well, fan-middle-aged-man), I too like all recent M cars. People seem to complain all cars look alike and then slate any manufacturer that does something different.

Have you seen Chris Harris's article on Top Gear? https://www.topgear.com/car-news/opinio ... ising-cars

He prefers it to his previous shape M2 (which was a CS: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2021-bmw-m2-cs-1 )

 Thought I'd seen a link somewhere. Anyway, since McSwede posted it without comment I've at least added something.

Not much content interest in this one for me, but I suspect we're going to see an increasing frequency of Harry + Charlie co-presentations.

I really enjoyed that - Harry's videos are good but getting a bit formulaic now. This really takes the channel in another direction.

Again a genuine geeky interest makes it a great show to watch.

IanF wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 10:06 am I meant to say, Autocar recently launched a digital archive of all its previous issues, you need a sub but they do occasionally do free trials.. https://www.themagazineshop.com/aca23paa/aca/
Having actually looked at the archive when I had my free trial, and having enjoyed the Steve Cropley/Matt Prior podcast over the last year I decided to subscribe to Autocar again. Digital only because I no longer want to accumulate more physical car magazines. It has been some years since I read the mag itself rather than just the website but I think it represents good value and I would quite like to support a mag which has been going for so long, which I've bought for over 40 years and which actually seems to produce content I go back to.

In contrast, I used my free trial for The Intercooler and didn't really get it. It's not an online magazine, it's a disjointed series of articles. Feels a bit like The Road Rat but digital. I still think the last great car mag launch was Evo and I still have an uninterrupted subscription to it.

Marv wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:42 pm I think that new M2 is heavier than the 3.8 litre E34 M5 my mate used to own.
It's about the same weight as the E39 and E60 M5 in reality too. The E39 seems to be quoted as 1795kg in some places now and I can't easily get to the Autocar 20 Jan 1999 issue with the full road test to check what they weighed it at, but from memory 1795kg was the weight of my E39 540i Touring with auto gearbox; the M5 was a bit lighter. E60 M5 was apparently 1730-1750kg.
I've checked the Autocar road test of the E39 M5 now - 1756kg. They described it as 'hefty'

Does this mean the new M2 is 'big boned'?

What was the guys name on here who used to own one ? It had the 50mm carbs aswell from memory.

There was a video of his on an airfield driving away from camera which is one of the nicest exhaust sounds I’ve ever heard, stunning car.
