Watched the first episode of Dahmer last night in slack jawed amazement (I genuinely didn't know or had forgotten the details of his crimes) and was hooked to see how he ended up there in that apartment of horrors.
Only two episodes of Bad Sisters left on Apple TV... its going to be one of my favourite shows of the year if it sticks the landing.

Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power
Technically excellent, beautifully shot, well acted. As it should be for, what was it, $500m or so?
But by god it can get a bit fucking self-indulgent with long lingering slow motion shots of someone's fucking eyebrow - although that typically only happens once of twice an episode thank goodness.
Overall as a non LOTR nerd I quite enjoyed it.

Lancaster - on Sky Documentaries
10 out of 10 IMO
Similarly…
Spitfire
Made by (I presume) the same people, it follows the same pattern. Brilliant again.
There’s only 1 left that flew in the Battle of Britain- didn’t know that.
10 out of 10 again!

Dahmer is so well done it's so awful I can't watch it anymore. I got two in and that was enough for me.
Bad Sisters is very good, agreed. I'm two in so far.

House of the Dragon.
It's just a bit, dull. I'm a big fan of GoT, but this doesn't seem to have any of the bite. I don't really care about any of the characters, the acting is wooden and every scene just seems a convenient step to the next scene and nothing more.
My issue with this is a the massive time jumps and confusing cast changes as a result. But I largely agree with you, it doesn't suck you in like GOT did.

the massive jumps are an issue too - they just say that “nothing interesting happened for 10 years”. And that’s an issue when the stuff we are seeing is so slow.

Bad Sisters totally stuck the landing. Its my favourite and my best show of the year.
Five scheming sisters out of five.

It kind of missed the landing imo. The big last episode twists had been telegraphed all season and the call backs were all handled really clunkily, the less said about the end of ep7 the better.
Still enough good there for me to pick up the second season when it turns up but it looks like Amazon are still hunting for their GoT. Maybe try and buy another series and third time's the charm

I'm way behind in LOTR so will get back in to that tonight and see how many character names and motivations I can remember. I don't fancy my chances though so it'll be hard going.
Then its House of the Dragon. Best to never cross the streams with these things or my brain will implode.

Gangs of London S2 is out now. If you're missing the blood and guts from GoT, start here! <splat>

Finished watching Dahmer last night. They did a really good job of humanising him, showing that he was someone who was at battle with powerful psycholgical issues that drove him to do horrid stuff, rather than being an evil person who woke up each day and chose violence. Given how open he was about his actions whilst confessing, I ended up liking his character once he was incarcerated - not for what he did - but for his candour. They even snuck in some humour there, when someone told him "They should have given you the chair!" he replied "I did ask them to". The show portrayed the system and especially the racism of the police as responsible for the magnitude of his crimes, he should have been caught wayyyy earlier, and would have prevented many lives being lost.

Got to end of ep3 last night. It's a bit slow but worth sticking with it for the eye popping gore

Same here. We managed a couple and the wife was getting freaked out. It's uncomfortable viewing!

Anyone else watch Friday Night Live? Other than a few low-lights (I never liked Loadsamoney, but Stavros is epic) I thought it was marvellous.

I'm catching up on Star Trek DS9 after starting it, er, a year ago.
On S4 now and it's vastly improved.

There were a few more lowlights for me. Jo Brand as funny as she ever was. Rosie Jones needs to get some new material as well.

Enjoyed Friday Night Live in parts; not fussed about some of the newer comedians but Ben, Harry, Julian and Jo were all nostalgia-filled. Particularly Ben’s suit. Shame he didn’t say ‘Mrs Thatch’ at any point.
I’m sure it only appealed to people of a certain age and only worked as a one off, but it was great overall.

Turns out I left the room for the one bit of Friday Night Live people are talking about

Good on Ch4 for having it uncensored on All4.
