The Motorbikerist Thread
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Had a brief text exchange with the lady, she'd prefer to deal with outside of insurance if poss, which is fine with me. I did tell her it was likely to be around £2k and she just said "ok thanks" so promising for path of least hassle if she'll just cough up for the lot.
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
She paid up directly to me today, £2,105 - the full cost of repairs and a new helmet. It's a PITA obvs but can't really argue with how it's been resolved in 1 working day, and crucially no insurance company has profited from this shituation.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Yeah good outcome.
And a little kudos to the women - yeah she screwed up but fronted up, accepted responsibility and paid out with no hassle. Rare in this day and age

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Real footage. Be careful out there guys.
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
lol - amazing how these camera people are always just in the right place to capture the moment!
I echo the don't be two-wheeled-twat sentiment tho.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Broken chain - stays pretty much on the surface - could have been nasty.
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
You know the risks etc. I'm happy that this freedom is still available for spectators. That's not to say you'll catch me standing that close, I was hiding behind a dry stone wall when I was there
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Agreed. As a just-teenager I went to see a stage of the Scottish Rally Championship at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.... at the final hairpin you were elevated 3m above the road, so they let you get right up close to the edge of the road. If you left your gob open as people came round under power, you'd have to spit bits of slick and dust out after each car passedBarry wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 1:27 pm You know the risks etc. I'm happy that this freedom is still available for spectators.

Similarly - watching RallyCross Supercars leaving the start line at Knockhill standing maybe 8m from them?

You can't generally get anything like that close now.....
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Hey - wanna go out and put some miles on the bike?
Nah - I'll send the robot out to do that shizzle, I'm watching Love Island.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Been around a while that I think, not even sure what's meant for
Speaking of miles, am running in my latest toy, the upgraded Tenere World Rally (swapped the BMW in, not the existing T7). So far, much improved suspension quality (and travel), vastly better seat, 50% more fuel range, and it looks bloody lovely

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Baz you need another 8 Teneres for the optimum number of Teneres, which is of course Ten Teneres.
I do like them a lot. They seem very tall tho, even compared to my GS.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
I currently have the Top Two Teneres yeah, and had no end of confused queries about why..
Try one Tim, they're more than the sum of their parts IMO, bloody love them. Don't focus on the 70hp not being "enough" either.
I needed rid of the BM first, so it made more sense to swap that for this new one. I'll probably retire the Rally Ed. at some point, but until then it stays as the dirty play thing, and the World Rally steps in as touring machine.

I applaud the stupidity to build the thing, but it's not my idea of fun
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
That. I doubt it even makes any sense on US roads.Barry wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 9:23 am I applaud the stupidity to build the thing, but it's not my idea of fun![]()

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Oldie but goodie. Never ceases to amaze me how many riders will put themselves close to bigger vehicles on purpose, and then distract themselves. Stupid is everywhere.
