You get to keep the much faster, freshly cleaned one with no hassle.

On the upside - you will have a non-fault £x claim logged against you, rather than a non-fault £total_loss.

As soon as it's road legal, it's getting traded in.

I don't want that fucking liability outside my house.

Compact has another clean mot. Only did 6k in it last year, the weather was so crap for so long that I couldn’t be bothered driving it for much of autumn winter just to save the number of cars covered in mud and salt.

Have been using it non-stop for the last three weeks or so, had to take the mito for a run yesterday to keep the battery alive 😄

Of the four cars we’ve motd this year, with an average age of 21 years old, the only failure has been the X5s single front balljoint. Pretty happy with that!

The boot badge on the BM was delaminating so needed replacing before I stopped knowing what make of car I have.

I went under the boot lining to find out how it attached only to discover you just pry it off. I gave it a quick clean before fitting the new badge and now I have one clean patch. At least when I do actually get round to cleaning the car, the badge won't fall apart.

Of course, no simple job is easy and one of the lugs on the old badge broke off. When I was pulling it out with my pliers, they slipped off and pinched the pad of my finger hard. Fortunately, I didn't cry much.

I saw a BMW with one of these, so everyone knew he drove a BMW, even at night.

You should have bought one. Otherwise, when it's dark how will they know, new badge or not?

That's particularly tragic! It's almost as bad as when someone swaps out the standard gear knob for a light up one.

I was at the BMW dealer yesterday ordering parts. I noticed a X1 with 4 exhausts which was odd. Badged M35i. Mentioned to the parts guy that I didn't know BMW made those... "It's only a 2 litre"
£60k too.

The naming convention continues to go to shit.

The 135 or 140 or whatever they’re calling it now is a transverse 2 litre 4pot anyway isnt it?

Shame, as being a 6 cyl rwd is what made is stand out from the golf r / s3 / A amg.

Back in the day - roughly 100 years ago - I successfully flummoxed Richard Porter (in his Aquadrome guise) by asking him why the South-Africa only BMW 745i was thus named?

Image

He didn't figure out that they applied the motorsport weighting factor of the day to identify the 3.2 turbo as a 4.5.

Nowdays none of the numbers make any sense at all. Dogshit.

The more recent E39 535i was a 3.5l V8!

The 35 badge will probably refer to some sort of EV soon enough

Yet E34 535i had a 3.4 and the E39 540i had a 4.4.

Evans Halshaw haven't recieved the car from Copart yet.

Evans Halshaw didn't seem to know why.

This is why people hate dealing with insurance, isn't it?

So long as you have a courtesy car - don't sweat it.

Probably because copart aren’t far off a bunch of crooks.

They probably borrowed a few bits off yours to make a crashed one look less crashed for their auction photos and now it’s not been written off have to put it back together 😄

This is just the news Beany wanted to hear to help him sleep this weekend.

If it helps, they'll just saw the bad half of the car off and attach it to a good half from a other car with the opposite problem.
It's been a perfectly acceptable way of fixing cars over the years, no reason to think it won't be fine here.

Do they move them about with forklifts in the UK? I’ve seen the American YouTubers buy a car which has then had a forklift go through the sump, crushed the exhaust and ruined the suspension components…

Well indeed, although suffice to say the sooner I can get this chapter of my life done and dusted, the better.

The car just sitting at copart for the last three days has rather pissed me off as a result.

There nothing you can or need to do - just drive the Corsa and chill!

I mean, I can moan online

Called insurance, they've chased all parties and apparently the car is now en route to Evans Halshaw.

It was the confused call from Evans Halshaw this morning that got me, as apparently they're the ones who were supposed to arrange transport. Maybe someone's cat died and it made them have a whoopsadoodle on the work order etc. (edit - they have since SMS'd me in the last few minutes with an 'estimate appointment' for today, whatever that is)

Ho hum, now I know, can't really moan online. I suppose I should really be looking forward to my next adventure in courtesy car'ing!

What do we reckon? A tatty Yaris?
