Trump
Re: Trump
Yeah, but a dozen trans athletes can't compete any more - totally worth destroying the economy for. "it was worth it to own the libs" wrote the farmer on his suicide note after his farm got repossessed because he couldn't afford the fertiliser imported from Canada, which currently, is 90% of the USs supply.

News is a bit sketchy but it seems he’s now signed off on mass deforestation of national parks.

WTF? Is this one of those more hidden decisions, going unnoticed behind the facade of Musk nonsense?Sundayjumper wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:54 am News is a bit sketchy but it seems he’s now signed off on mass deforestation of national parks.
Re: Trump
Aslong as they are properly managed then surely a good thing ?
Trump has been doolally and a bit mental of late but if you have local timber and you otherwise have to ship it in, this is good.
Growing forests and harvesting them when suitable is a great way to be self sufficient. It’s how the industry used to work, the loggers would be felling trees their great grandfather planted 50 years before.
Will be interesting to see how this is managed as normally you have criteria to meet to do with replanting. If this is changed aswell then it’s a stupid idea.

Sounds like it'll be well managed. Destroy a third of your entire forested land. Just cut it all down. You will in no way regret cutting down a third of all your forests

And after it's been shipped halfway around the world, we burn it and claim it's green, and pay over £1bn in subsidies to the con-artists that are burning it.Mito Man wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 9:43 am They're all fucking idiots over there as they cut the old growth trees 1000 years old etc. Canada isn't better.

Re: Trump
VdL announced potential €800bn increase in military spending by EU over next 4 years.. plus a third point that I was unsure whether meant a further €800bn or just reiterated first two amounts.
Did Donald really want a USE for the USA to compete against?
ETA: europe’s GDP (including UK) is €28 trillion. The USA is €30 trillion. China is €18 trillion and Russia is two point something trillion euros.. so Trump by appeasing Putin is actually creating a real threat to the USA’s dominance

Re: Trump
Suspension of elections in the US, or Russian-style elections, in 4 years would probably be the trigger for a new Brenter vote. Especially if the US continues down an isolationist path, although I can also see Trump offering the UK become the 55th state or something bad could happen.. as VdL states: Europe is now in a period of rearmament, and the UK will have to decide which superstate’s philosophy we wish to be part of.jamcg wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 12:49 pm Imagine if the threat of Trump America puts us back in the eu![]()
One good thing, I think anyway, is Farage’s support of Trump against Z has probably sunk his chances growing Reform

Ian

So, who watched Civil War last year and thought that, whilst a believable eventuality, it might be quite some time off at best...

We’ve just had a briefing at work from our Director of Cyber Defence & Risk. Unreliability of the US is being taken very seriously.
