I'm surprised we haven't mentioned Sully before on here. I enjoyed it too - had no idea how hard the pilots had to fight to justify their actions. "Can we get serious now?"

Yep, if that's all true to life then they really must have suffered in the period after the event.

Also, might be worth putting a spoiler alert in your post, that scene is the turning point of the entire movie

I feared that might be the case... its between that and The Substance to watch tonight so I guess Demi Moore wins by default.

Can you steal lines from another movie in the same series? some would say it’s just a reference.

I really enjoyed Fury Road, this seemed like a "made for TV" spinoff by comparison

Save yourself two and a half hours and watch something else IMO

I didn't pay too much attention to it, but had a sense that there were plot holes big enough to drive a War Rig through (see what I did there)

I didn't remember Fury Road having so much pretty poor looking CGI either...

Yeah, it was stupid and OTT, but I loved it. Jackman was brilliant as Wolverine, hard to see someone stepping into his shoes for this (and no, it shouldn't be Cavill).

Over $1BN at the box office already, well on track to be the highest grossing R-rated movie by some margin. Jokes about "Until he's 90" but Disney will be desperate to get him to sign on for another one.

Watched it tonight and it was very enjoyable. Sure the plot (using the term loosely) was full of holes, but the relentless self-deprecating dialogue, and Deadpool style (duh) silliness made it a good watch.

5/6 adamantium claws in the nethers.

i watched half of it the other day and haven’t been bothered about watching the second half. It just seemed like most of the other marvel scripts:

implausible thing happens, purely to trigger smart ass “clever” response…. and repeat.

None of the charm and flow of the first deadpool.

We watched it a couple of weeks ago and I found it pretty boring tbh. Matthew MacFayden was great though, as ever.

Emilia Perez (Netflix)

First from this year's nominations list is Emilia Perez. It follows a lawyer (Zoe Saldana) and a client's business dealings. Won't say more to avoid spoiling it.

7.5/10 reformed Sicarios.

Paddington 3 ok so they haven't quite gotten lightning to strike thrice, but it's still pretty good.

Heretic is well worth a watch, Hugh Grant is fantastic in it. Creepy, dramatic, tense thriller is all you can really say without giving it away - the trailer sets it up pretty well though without giving too much away.

Agreed, I liked it, but it's around a 6/10 rather than the stronger performances from 1 & 2

Carry-On

Showed little of the cheeky charm of the original films, with barely a fnar or an oooh matron. I'm not sure I registered even a single-double-entendre.

Putting that aside however:

It took me at least 10mins before I could get it into my head that Taron Egerton was a 'Mercun. Eventually it stopped grating, and I was able to enjopy what he brought to the film. Although Jason Bateman's character was pretty one-dimensional, he was very convincing as a cold calculator. Best character of the film for me.

Despite a pretty (very?) far-fetched storyline, there was tension throughout, and sufficient twists, turns and unexpected-huh? to keep me engaged to the end, although I would say :-

1. The closing sequence was twee turned upto 11.
2. I had the underlying feeling throughout that they were desperately trying to cement this as an annual repeat-play Christmas-Movie

As it did entertain me, and since it's almost still the season to be jolly, I award it 7 paper boarding passes out of 10.

I thought the same @mik, when I saw Carry-On listed I figured it would be instantly forgettable trash but its a really entertaining, well-made, tense action/thriller movie. A solid 7/10 that I think will stand up well to rewatches.
