Just to close this one out as I know everyone is fascinated ;) - this is an onboard of abs older lap running “low boost” mode. It’s a 48second lap (vs the 45.9 he did on Saturday).

You've probably said before, but what engine's in it?

I saw something I haven't seen before, a Boxster with a roofrack (it was also silver with a bike rack, but no bike);

Hopefully it tilts like the old Golf ones so you can raise and lower the roof.

7.2 V8 with two rather large turbos. 4wd.

:!: That's a big ol' lump to tuck away in there, I was expecting something more along the lines of an Atom's V8 (with silly boost)

Is it an LS? Fitting a V8 that big with turbos etc into that footprint must’ve taken some engineering. Must be running around 1000bhp too.

@nuttinnew @ZedLeg Dunno source (edit - but now I have spotted the LS7 marking on the edge of the head  ) but yes - he’s a talented bloke.

Low-boost was around 1300bhp apparently. Now around 1500 afaik.

It’s also road-legal with the wings removed and slicks swapped out.

Ah clever having the turbos mounted like that so they’re in the airflow along the side of the car and have an easy(ish) path into the intake manifold.

Usually big twin turbo LS builds have them hung wide at the front and duct air from the headlight opening.

That thing must just be non stop butt clenching on the road.

I spotted something a bit more relaxed today
Image
And then like busses I saw another driving past. I love the way the rear lights are completely hidden until the brakes are applied, but it means that any colour apart from black doesn’t work that well.

I think they look awful in black. Every other colour looks better now.

Nice car he's built around the engine :D
Looking at all the high tech bits then spot what look like Beetle front indicators :D
It needs a roof rack and trailer to take the wings etc to the track (along the lines of speed week) :P

Efa.

The black doesn't work with the UK number plate imo, offshore registration required.

Spotted a few car transporters with new Volvos and Polestars on recently. Interestingly the Polestars all had covers over them while the Volvos didn't. Must be a pain to drive onto the transporter when you have to peer through a small perspex window in the cover sheet over the car

TVR Grantura in a Weymouth retail park 8-)
At the best of british show recently (where I ended up in a line up display of TVR's) there was a Grantura parked up next to me. One family had owned since new. 1963 until 2022, first the father then his wife and now the son who had done a light and sympathtic resto on it.

Great story. One of the best things about car shows is hearing tales like this 8-)

I like how they couldn’t even be bothered filling the shutline for the back door

Would look better if they cut that overhang off.
