That’s pretty good going, the ‘sud takes forever to get fuel back to the carb if it’s sat more than a few weeks, even with a non return valve near the engine.

I can’t even remember where the tank is on a beetle, is it up near the front bulkhead? Maybe you have a bit more gravity helping than me with the tank low under the rear seat.

Yes, right at the front behind the spare wheel. It is quite high up and I hadn't considered the gravity effect. Still running the mechanical fuel pump too.

Yeti wheel bearing replaced to go with the ABS sensor being replaced.
However the fault codes won't clear. My mechanic temporarily bypassed the loom with some wiring and was able to clear the code, but connecting the loom back in and the code reappeared/won't clear.
Suspect the part of the loom needs replacing - he's going to price that up.

Fitted some hubcentric spacers to the abarth to toughen up the stance a little. Tyres fill the arches nicely now.

@dan spacers work nicely. Elise stats are impressive - more pics of carbon body required. 8-)

As for the S1… love it.

Yesterday after work I trawled down to Windsor after work to pick up some incredibly rare loot, some spare front struts for the alfasud. I’ve been looking for some since shortly after I bought the car…

On leaving their property I managed to back into a fence post, buggering up the paint on the corner of the bumper, snapping the side slide mount, and smashing the rear light. Doh.

So tonight after work I took the compact to harwich to pick up a set of lights for it.

Hopefully tomorrow I can just drive home after work and have a cup of tea and relax for a moment. Then try and make the x5 look less crashed.

Found out the source of my grumbly brake

Think I’ll put Pagid in the shit pile as that’s twice it’s happened now. They just come off the backing. Must be some sub par glue they’re using.

Had the same happen on the rear of my mito wouldn’t touch their regular pads again.

New 928 Seat memory controller and wiring harness now ready to go back under the seat. Managed to source a working one from a wrecked 1987 S4 (same year as mine). I just then need to repair the car side of the harness (I got the connector and a length of cable with the new controller) and it's all done. I'm also going to mask off, rub down and re-spray the seat rail satin black before it goes back in just so it looks nice.

Some interesting reports in the last few pages.

Id not stepped in the boxster for long enough for it to be in sleep mode. But today was such a fabulous warm sunny one I had a little pootle into Derbyshire. Dropped the roof, banged my foot down and the moment happened that the clutch had been hinting at as it gave up along Baslow road.

Limped home and am waiting for the other list of items that need doing like rear main seal costs to add up. Had to happen one day.

That's a bugger. Although, a new RMS isn't going to add much to the cost if the clutch is being done anyway.

On mine I’m dreading the exhaust manifold studs. That’s the big “while you’re there” when the engine’s out and you can flip it over to work on it.

I’ve been doing a little bit each day on the MINI. Subframe is back in, new shocks arrived yesterday, I need to clean & paint the brakes and then it can all go back together. It’s not been a very fun job so I guess we’re keeping this car forever rather than buying another one and doing this all over again.

Wishbones, ball joints, ARB bushes, inner & outer tie rods, shocks, bump stops & top mounts. Drop links were new last year and still good. Apart from the springs that's the entire front suspension replaced.

Ive done a car job every weekend now for the past 4 weeks.

Mini Service for Mrs A's cab
Rad on Mrs A's cab
Mini service for my neices car
Drop Link on the Corsa earlier this week...Then discovered the tyre was egged on the inside.
This weekend i've got an ABS sensor on my mates Corsa to do.

ETA - ive also got a set of pads to do on the Lotus and probably that needs a fluid change. But im going to wait till the next trackday to do that.

Tyres today - Kwik Fit are the only people who will do mobile fitting in my area now it seems but fortunately worked out cheapest anyway. I thought I'd better take a photo of the new alloys when they're pristine before tyres are fitted, so here is one. The colour is very like the shadow chrome on the E39 M5 factory alloys.
