I have just done the rad on ours last week It hadn’t totally crapped itself but there was steam coming out from the grille. I couldn’t even see exactly where the leak was. New rad has cured it.

Just had the call from the garage, ironically the biggest issue (the gearbox 3rd issue) was the simplest - just a missing clip. A few other issues to fix - some loose/missing heat shields, some bodged fixings on under trays etc, a split CV boot, a steering rack boot of some kind twisted up and a few minor bits.

i expect it’ll all add up, but i’m happy that he’s been through it all and given it a clean bill of health in general, and hopefully the little fixes will make it even nicer/quieter to drive (taking into account the fact it is an Elise!)

The shifter cables are held on with U clips. They rust and deteriorate.

Top tip - Cable ties over the clips to stop them moving.

Mines fell off on track...Went for 3rd...Nothing...Oh fuck...Thought it had shat the box.

Yeah, sounds like the same issue - not fun if you were giving it 100%!!

AA man "Its been leaking for a while, I can see dried coolant on the end" The coolant was on the max on sunday so it cant have been leaking much and finally shat itself today.

Not really my fleet, but the 530e (23 plate) I’ve just had for a week was impressively smooth - I put elsewhere it was small wheels, well small 18” ones! and lots of side wall). Seemed to get faster as the week went by, being able to charge itself or using intelligent route planning if you used the satnav/carplay to get there with either a preset amount of battery or zero ie most efficient if heading to home etc. Clever roller parcel shelf that lift up and away when opening the glass panel of the boot and built in net to stop dogs licking ears of people in back seats all added to the user friendliness. Was sad to see it go. Over the 7500 miles it’s done, average was 34.5mpg - obviously didn’t do all those miles so don’t know how it’s been used or whether that’s even good, but not bad for a big petrol.

However, and something that needs celebrating, is the fact that all the “safety” assists sit behind a button next to the hazard light, and it has an individual mode that stores and keeps your preference indefinitely.. well done BMW

Went to see Shen Yun show in Northampton today, it’s a 52 mile
Drive and we averaged 37.7mpg including traffic when leaving, 4 up in the little Clio

Northampton was a ghost town that made PeterBogHorror seem welcoming though, which was a surprise.

I think you're vastly overestimating the value of your organ (fnar?).

2 steps on the M2, select driver mode which is a button behind gear knob and select Sport which turns off both lane assist and speed limit warning. It also changes the heads up display to only show rev counter, gear and speed which is also a bonus but doesn't change any of the other driver modes.

I'm only mentioning this as I've seen a few reviews of M2,3,4 which have the same dashboard moaning that you have to go into the idrive settings to turn off the driver assistance features.

2 Series hire car had the same system and button but the speed limit warning turned on each time and had to be disabled via a sub menu in the idrive each time. Later 2024 car so don't know if things have got more strict recently.

I really like the 128. Its plenty quick. the tech is good. Handles really well also has an LSD so traction is quite exceptional for FWD even in the wet. Mine has red leather & the pro pack which gives the 19's, HK sounds and rear tints. One option i wish it had was the heated wheel. I would have specced that from the factory.

Be very careful on what your spec is. Its not difficult to tip the RRP over 40k and get hit with the luxury car tax. Mines was a few hundred under £40k. If id gone for metallic paint it would have tipped it over.

Tyre pressures from the factory are set overly high - 42 psi front. Dropping that back to 36 improves the ride and traction. It also stops the tyres wearing in the middle.

Ive seen 52 mpg from it on a run back from Anglesey.

Ive put over 20k on it. so far its been back to the dealer for...Nothing bar a service.

Its done 2 sets of fronts and a set of front pads - Which were almost on the wear sensors. Ive changed from the OEM Bridgestones to Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. The bridgestones tend to be a bit noisy.

TL;DR - Its great.

I do adore that, it's a great combo, although I have always had an unrelenting lust for a 355 Spyder in yellow.

Galaxy back with new shocks and springs in the back. It sits 3/4 inch higher, although it might settle a bit.

One shock was definitely past it with virtually no rebound at all. The other wasn't much better.

Driving back it felt firmer and less floaty than before, be interesting to see how it feels fully loaded.

Will do the fronts at the next service.

Yeti serviced and wheel speed sensor changed. ABS and other warning lights stayed off for about 1 mile then reappeared, so next is getting the bearing/magnet bit done.

Confirmed rad - pissing out the end tank. Job for the weekend. £98 for the rad from my mate at the motor factors.
