The French car is doing French car stuff.

New pre-cat sensor fitted as it was misfiring, new injectors fitted the other day for the same reason, chasing a misfire. Now it’s plugs and leads.

The pre-cat lambda plug is fitted on a subframe in a slot, that the ARB and heat shielding mean the engine comes out to fit it back in the slot or you jam fingers in and fiddle fuck till you find the hole

Also, I now love light cars, it’s such a wonderful feeling with so little mass.

Mustang has been in the UK for 17 years now and has 115k.

As a result, I'm making enquiries to get all the surface corrosion off, back to bare metal and undersealed. The quote I've had also includes coating the rear inner arches (they are exposed whereas the fronts have plastic arch liners).

Price I've had is approx £1500.

Does that sound about right?

Doesn’t sound unreasonable. It’s a pretty crappy job, I’ve seen people quoted £600 just to jet wash and lanoguard / waxoil a decent size car.

Cheers. Not the cheapest job but also not one I'd fancy tackling myself anyway. £1500 isn't bad considering I won't have to think about it again for a while

Kona has gone back with a Skoda Enyaq 85 Edition in its place.

Very quiet and refined, and quite a bit more space and nearly twice the boot size. It has got 80 more bhp than the Kona but also weighs about 250kg more so it doesn't feel hugely quicker but then you realise how quick you're going without knowing when looking down to the display.

Love the matrix LED lights after taking it out on some dark roads. The bulbs are constantly changing to keep the light as wide and far as possible without blinding cars coming the other way.

Kids are enjoying the blinds in the rear and ambient lighting.

In a somewhat related post, i took my little boy out in the Lotus last night for the first time - His thoughts were: “it was built for fun not comfort and it smells!”

He loved it though!

The related part was he enjoyed having to hold my phone torch up for me whilst i did up his harnesses because there is no interior light - ambient or otherwise!

We went to look at an Enyaq and a Kodiaq PHEV a couple of weeks ago for my wife. Both lovely big family cars but my wife could not be convinced to go full electric.

We took the Kodiaq for a long test drive and that seems to indicate we'd get 50+ miles on just electric which would be sufficient for at least 90% of her journeys.

Like you mention they are so refined you don't realise how quick you are going on electric. Interiors feel high quality and I love the clever details like umbrellas in the doors.

Hopefully it will arrive in April.

I fitted some Eibach SoLow springs (-45mm) to the van yesterday (well paid someone to). They need a bit of tweaking because the rear is sitting lower than the front, but they have adjusters to level it out.

I’ve driven it today and ride quality is still perfectly fine (still the most comfortable “car” i’ve ever owned!) and it’ll look a lot better when it’s sitting right.

I sat in an Enyaq when the Superb was in for its last main dealer service a couple of years ago. Fairly familiar tbh - lots of typical Skoda interior elements. I made the mistake of trying to turn the heater blowers off though, only I managed to turn them up. Could not for the life of me figure out how to adjust them via the stupid touchscreen. ETA: I just got out, shut the doors and left that for someone else to sort out. Must've been like an oven in there by the time anyone else opened it up

For that alone, I'm out.

Galaxy has a fresh MOT. Advisories for child seats being fitted, some slightly tired bushes, and a very small oil leak from the turbo.

Booked it in for new springs and dampers in the back.

I clearly jinxed it saying the RR has no electrical maladies. Now seems prone to random alarm triggers. Not too frequent just yet fortunately but will need to be investigated if it continues.

Could it be a battery issue? If the voltage drops too low it gets angry?

It’s a RR in London. Are you sure they’re random triggers?!

Yes that's possible though the tracker is showing the car battery as sat at 12.3V so isn't low currently.

Apparently door locks can fail in some way which leads to it (even though the doors still lock).
