I owned my Golf for 22 years and I never figured out what that little tool did, until the last few years of ownership Up until then I used a small screwdriver and found the bolt covers to be a bitch to remove!
I learned today that the same tool is designed to allow you to remove full wheel trims - the hole you stick your finger in is sized to allow you to put the OEM wheel wrench through it so you can then pull with two hands!
WHO KNEW THIS????
Looks more useful.for that at least!
Jobbo - you've got me wondering now whether our caps don't have holes.

Merv, our Skoda caps definitely didn’t - and they were the OE ones yet the car came with that metal ring removal tool.

There was a “what no way” guy video about the ones with holes in the middle, you can get them off with a blast of compressed air in the hole from a compressor with a bow gun/air duster

Unfortunately, not many peoples have one handy, but....

Our Yeti came with one of those metal ring types but holeless caps. Took me ages to work out that it wasn't just ineffective, it was the wrong tool Skoda clearly don't bother to think about which alloys are on the car.
They neglected to supply the GF with a locking wheel nut for her Karoq. Total PITA trying to sort that out.

Do you mean they neglected to supply you with a locking wheel nut key? I can see that being a PITA.

Don't worry, those wheelnut caps are a very effective security device in their own right. Nobody would be able to get them off to find they needed a locking wheelnut key

Got a video driving my car through a new track I made. Kind of want to add to it so as I drive the seasons progress. I've already screwed it up by missing autumn though. And yeah the video from my drone is rubbish because it's broken.

Started to work on fixing the broken driver's seat recline switch on the 928. Some useless fucker has butchered the wiring harness and spliced in a cheap rocker switch and replaced the standard connector with 3(!) cheapo connectors. The OEM 4-way switch was £40.
There's 13 wires in total. Porsche don't sell the seat harness connector as a separate part so I've ordered some Deutsch DT connectors - annoyingly the largest they do is a 12-way, so I'll split it into an 8 and a 6 but the end result will be a much more robust and professional setup - kind of OEM+ which is what I generally do on the car.

@Mito Man I expect you've probably mentioned it elsewhere on here before but what drone are you using?
I'm tempted to buy my son (as a joint present ) a DJI Neo to have a play with given they're so affordable, or would you recommend going for something better than this as a minimum?

I don't know much about the Neo, but it's worth looking at the comarative features/performance of the Mini3 too as it's not massively £more.
Also bear in mind that even for the Neo you'll need an Operator ID from the CAA, need to pass a test etc.

Mine is a DJI Mini 4 pro. Looking at the Black Friday pricing a DJI Mini 4k doesn’t cost much more and is a much more capable drone - has its own controller so isn’t limited to flying within wifi range, 3 gimbal axis and almost 3 times the flight time.
Maybe the Neo is more child friendly because it has prop guards but they’re honestly a doddle to control.

Thanks, both - looks like the Mini 4k is a better bet for not much more money and still within the 250g weight limit that applies to the Neo.
ETA - I get terrible budget creep on these things...

The care plans are pretty good too .... I received a brand new drone + battery after mine ended up in a couple of feet of water *
* some mitigating factors
- one of the motors was slightly damaged but the software recognised this and fed more power to it. Which was good.
- until I ran the battery right down and it went into "alright stupid - I will now land myself"
- which is a pre-programmed decent that doesn't seem to include any allowance for any existing motor damage
- did it once and the drone pitched immediately down at the front right as the software took control from me, drone rolling increasingly over, heading fast towards a wall. Managed to reduce the impact by sticking my hand out and grabbing it. Ouch.
- identical situation occured a second time (which is how I figured out what was going on) which lead to it pitching nose down to the right, accelerating increasingly in that direction, heading for a full inversion - ending up diving into a small waterway. Luckily I saw where it ended up before it died - you can't claim on the care plan if you lose it completely in water

Yes this is a concern as you get further up the value proposition...
Genuinely I don't spend £500 of something which has a high probability of an unfortunate incident with water or trees.
