Your fleet running reports
Last month Steve the CRV had a new clutch, DMF, turbo refurb, new filters n oil, handbrake cable and MOT (flying colours).
Having looked at the car market (3-5 year old, vs lease) and condition of Steve we decided best option is try and keep Steve for a few more years, so was worth spending money to keep in tip top condition.

On the way back from holiday the youngest decided that the best place to leave the penny she found in the car was in the 12v socket
Cue a blown fuse and no phone charging except from the inbuilt USB socket that is horrendously slow.
Luckily I have a set of spare fuses, unfortunately they're the wrong size, so have had to order a set of mixed mini blade ones. Felt a bit silly to order £2 worth of stuff, so have added a set of new front wipers, as the current ones are a bit juddery.

Pootling along at 45-50mph in eco pro, then smashing through kickdown when the NSL sign comes up, braaaping through the gears to a ton is still hilarious.
That is all.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Not fleet exactly, but I’m having a go at tidying my garage and have been browsing Facebook marketplace for a workbench. Jamcg posted in the eBay thread and I mentioned it. Mere minutes later I was on Facebook and spotted this:
2m stainless bench with a sink. Wifey doesn’t like me washing my hands in the utility room (even though that’s exactly what a utility is for) and a sink in the garage means I can use it to wash my parts too. My car parts.
Plumbing is almost in place already as there used to be a cloakroom in that corner of the house. Should be a fairly simple project to install.
(it’s just the bench, I don’t get all the gubbins too)

Might be worth sticking some heavier oil in it before anyone comes to test drive it. I probably put 5w30 in there when I serviced it as that’s what most things use and I keep it in stock. 5/40 or 10/40 should help a bit.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Took the 911 to the local place for a wash today and they did a bang up job as always. Still no idea where our hose or pressure washer is so I guess this'll be the first and only wash until Spring.

Cheers,
Mike.

Their gaff looks very different to my local Kurdish place for a quick wash

Re: Your fleet running reports
I thought any colour of emission from the exhaust was a fail - maybe that's only on idle?Gavster wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2024 4:07 pm Smart passed it’s MOT with smoking colours, to be specific, blue smokemaybe it should try vaping instead

I’d seen the smokescreens that it deployed under heavy acceleration so this simply adds to the reasons to offload it soon.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Why were they accelerating anyway ? The MOT doesn’t include a road test. Unless they mean the fast idle for emissions, but as above, visible smoke should have been a fail ?
(Yes, moving it from the yard to the ramp, and back again after, strictly speaking involved accelerating from zero to <not zero> but I doubt that’s what they meant)
Anyway. As Harry suggests, whack some anti-smoking stuff in there and get rid.

Unless there is a reason why they can’t use the rollers for the brake test? In which case they need to check them on-road.Sundayjumper wrote: Wed Nov 13, 2024 10:18 pm Why were they accelerating anyway ? The MOT doesn’t include a road test.

I’m going to get the car tomorrow, so don’r know the full details, but this is my very friendly garage so that might explain any peculiarities

Oh. Maybe should have been a fair but downgraded to an advisory.
