Beyond reading wiki I know SFA about solid state batteries, but the electrolyte can be a few different types of material including glass.Beany wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 8:51 pmThat'll be the glass substrate cells, I think you're referring to?

Re: The EV Apocalypse
I just saw a picture of the electric BMW i4 concept on twitter. I won’t repost it as it’s not worth the time. EVs with massive grills

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The EV Apocalypse
The three pin socket wheels - although incorrectly spaced out - are indeed a nice little wry touch!Coaster1 wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 9:22 pm Watched Johnny Smith’s Mini E video earlier. Very good. And I like the three-pin socket wheels.

Oui, je suis un motard.
Re: The EV Apocalypse
It’s a warning to future mini owners. “We have no charging network and you will forever be searching for a 3 pin socket”

Re: The EV Apocalypse
Thought this was worthy adding here. An aspect of EV future could actually be restoring classic vehicles with modern drive trains.
Re: The EV Apocalypse
This crossed my mind for my in laws’ Morris Minors, which they will never get rid of.

One of the Amurcan tunerz has put, or is putting a tesla motor into the rear subframe of a BMW e30.
Cheers, Harry

My silly mate who made the TDi Elise told me he has a broken EP3 that he's tempted to electrify, he already has a 200hp motor so it'd make for an interesting comparison to mine.
I like the idea of a Citreon Safari with EV drivetrain, it'd suit the nature of the car IMO.

Oooh, now that is a proper idea! DS or CX? I'd imagine you could get a monster of a pack in a CX and still have enough room to camp out in it during the imminent apocalypseBarry wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:37 pm I like the idea of a Citreon Safari with EV drivetrain, it'd suit the nature of the car IMO.

Re: The EV Apocalypse
CX, in white or that light blue. Loads of space for batteries, and still room for all kinds of nonsense.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:50 pmOooh, now that is a proper idea! DS or CX? Re: The EV Apocalypse
I think without an engine as background noise then an electric classic will be a rattle squeaky torture chamber!!
Dave!
Dave!
Re: The EV Apocalypse
This. There was a well done EV Range Rover, really old classic one. The onboard video of it was crap, the noise from the gearbox, rattles and wind made it truly terrible.V8Granite wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 8:22 pm I think without an engine as background noise then an electric classic will be a rattle squeaky torture chamber!!

Re: The EV Apocalypse
You can hear that in the Voltswagen in the vid above yeah, and you are much aware of general noises in an EV for sure. I'd rather a quiet electric motor than the godawful flat four it should have though..

That TDi is still one of my favourite conversionsBarry wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:37 pm My silly mate who made the TDi Elise told me he has a broken EP3 that he's tempted to electrify, he already has a 200hp motor so it'd make for an interesting comparison to mine.

Lovely.
I follow on Twitter a local-ish Guy called Chris (@RegionalBiasFM) who has a lovely looking example in white, but with bumpers paint matched by the previous owner - which sharpens the look to me.
I keep thinking about suggesting we meet up to take some pics - partly cos I think the cars would work well together, and partly cos I want a proper look.

I can't explain what I like about them, but they are wonderful looking things aren't they.

There's a Safari on carandclassic at £2500...
