Re: Your fleet running reports
Erm, Dakar?
And have we had pics of the first 911 yet?

I know... I know....
You know when you realise you've bought the wrong car? Or the wrong model of car for where you've ended up?

Re: Your fleet running reports
I did think of a "guess the car thread" but other than saying I'd ordered mud flaps I wasn't sure where to start and it was very early.
No, but it's been a mad couple of months. I do have a cold start vid and everything now. I think I'll have time to sort pictures out this weekend.
Cheers,
Mike.

Awesome! shame someone has put a roof box on it, but what a purchase!!
Re: Your fleet running reports
That is a cool purchase, bravo!
Re: Your fleet running reports
Oh wow, I’m more envious of a Dakar than a Targa! And I loved the Targa…
I hope you got a good deal. I’ve had a long discussion with a rural dwelling friend about a Dakar. He thinks the Dakar should be an optional trim level on any 911 and I can see exactly why. But I don’t think Porsche will do it.

Nice
I was thinking with the state of the roads, the Dakar is probably the better option if you want to actually drive it.

How about not having a sig at all?

So is this some kind of "You know what's better than a Porsche 911? Two 911s!" affair? Or did you chop the other one in for the Dakar?
Re: Your fleet running reports
Love it. I can't imagine anything more suitable than a rallye-raid type car for fun in the Highlands

They must like you to get you on the list for one of those Mike!
Re: Your fleet running reports
WTF just happened?!
Wow, great work. Sounds like an entirely sensible choice... well if you're a car nerd at least.
It appears to me that we can file the last year as you living your best life what with the house, all the cars. I can't wait to see what's next!

Now my gearbox is rebuilt and I've replaced some of the suspension, I'll be eager to see if the 911 pulls away quite as quickly from my lardy barge.GG. wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 1:39 pmYes sounds good - springtime makes sense I think. I'd be up for it again - we need to get some of the Ferrari owners out too (plus Simon's new MX5 obviously!)

Re: Your fleet running reports
The whole thing came about when I called to ask about a set of winter wheels and tyres for the GTS and the salesman was talking about one of their customers based out in the West of Scotland who has one of these... And yes, I've been utterly obsessed with the Dakar since they came out.
I've traded the GTS in for it and it's a used model with a couple of thousand miles on the clock. The overs market was very brief on these and they're now available secondhand at a price where I think it's not a bad buy (relatively speaking as it's still a shit tonne of money). Not that I think it's any sort of investment, but just that they seem to have levelled off.
It's got bucket seats and the whole rally package. The buckets are much more comfortable than I thought they'd be actually after about 5 hours in them yesterday. I guess normal sports seats would be a better everyday option, but so few cars seem to have had them specced.
Will look at Hammond's video this morning then!
The GTS was absolutely stuck to the road - the cornering speeds were incredible - so it'll be interesting to see how this compares. There's definitely more movement when cornering, but not in a bad or panicky way. Famous last words...
