Good point. My first E36 had exactly that. You could see the water level in the little window where you view the chassis number, it would overflow down the a-pillar if you went round a corner sufficiently quickly

Superchips are coming over on Thursday to remap the 125i -
They’ve got up to 60% discount this month, so £225 to take it from a 125i to 130i spec.

I gave it a wash and wax the other weekend - I think it’s a pretty decent looking car. The oversize front lights look much better on this than the hatchback version, and the 135i wheels fill the arches nicely.
The ‘UK’ number plates are now in the bin.

159,000 mile ML500 passed with colours flying so high, rainbows got a sore neck.

Still looking a bit tatty.

Emissions particularly low so I’m just using V-Power all the time now, I tried to convince that new E10 wasn’t making any difference but I just couldn’t get close to previous mileage numbers on it and since doing 3 tanks of V-Power the emissions are lower than last year. It could be the machine measuring but I’m back to 500miles to a tank again and 400 with short trips.

Tyres needed though and a gearbox service soon.

I still think those are fab. The soft top simply looks right, they are ageing beautifully (way better than the F20) and I imagine they are pretty solid.

Yep. This gen of 1-series, along with the E9x 3 and E6x 5 are fairly highly regarded by the indy I use for overall reliability and longevity. They always mention how well they seem to last in terms of bushes etc.

just jumped in my car and the low coolant alarm came up… a quick check around the front and i can see it dripping from the bumper behind the wheel.

looks like a second radiator killed (same happened last year) - £600 bill… rats!

I’ve replaced a fair number of radiators from stone chip damage and a few condensers from leaves getting in and corroding them.

The solution already exists to solve all the problems, perhaps legislation could be pushed onto manufacturers

I find it genuinely bonkers that you can have effectively exposed condensors/rads/etc with functionally no protection at the front of the car other than some stylised plastic 'mesh' with inch wide holes in it.

I need to get around to throwing some mesh on my one honestly, I really really don't like how exposed it is, so low to the ground.

I noticed at Goodwood many supercars don't even have a plastic mesh anymore, however what really took the piss was the new M5 which had nothing. On a practical car. I reckon you can ruin the condenser at this time of year by just having chestnut go through it.

the last one was broken from the wheel arch side rather than the front, there’s a grill with very small holes. i think this is the same again.

i suspect it was when i moved right over for an ambulance on an a road on tuesday.

I'm making a note to buy a lot of fine chicken wire and overlap it on both sides....
