Mrs Jobbo has given approval to me wrapping the MX5. And I have found alloys that I like which clear the Brembo calipers: Advan Racing TC4. I don't plan to go JDM-yo with coloured wheelnuts though; I don't particularly want a stud conversion even.

No, I'd just like it to be a bit more of a successor to the MX5 I miss so I want to have a similar colour scheme

Looks nice! I had to explain to someone the other day my mudlife crisis started as soon as I could ride motorbikes and drive.

Why wrap it? Looks good as it is, IMO. Change the alloys, sure, but I'd keep the colour.

I don’t mind the colour but I wanted something vibrant and none of Mazda’s colours are. So it was always in my mind.

Ugh. Replacing the tyre (which definitely had a dirty great nail in it to be fair) has revealed there was a crack in the alloy which will need welding.

I’m not having a midlife crisis, I’ve just never really grown up.

Most midlife crisis moment was probably buying the alfasud after a couple of years with the sensible modern mito as my main car.

Tesla won’t weld wheels, they’ll want to sell you a new one.

Tesla wouldn’t honour the warranty on a wheel which had been welded which is fair enough.

If it’s under warranty will they replace a cracked wheel provided there’s no signs of impact damage?

If it’s not under warranty, get it welded and carry on.

It’s Tesla, you can have a delivery mileage car which has the wheel just explode whilst parked up and they’ll still find a way to blame the customer.

I agree, there is zero way that Tesla would do this under warranty. I think the onus would be on me to prove there was a manufacturing defect rather than hitting a pot hole, which would be impossible.

My main problem is that I don't know enough about wheel welding to know the relative pros, cons and safety of a repair.

If the wheels are not so expensive* I will get a new one and try and flog the old one to a fool on ebay.

*Waiting for a quote but Tesla "winter pack" of 4 wheels, 4 tyres and 4 wheel caps is £1800, assuming tyres are about £150-200 each, that means wheels are £250-300 each. So if it is not so expensive I will go with that rather than worry about having a weaker wheel.

Boxster is in for mot I fully expect it to fail. Prices are down but might be coming to the time to sell it, but I| probably wont as the sound it makes is worth the huge tax.

As far as I can tell, the used sports car market has dipped lately. I am wondering about buying a fun car later in the year.

There was a misprice, quite a few people ordered them, Tesla did not honour the deal.

It's almost like 20 years ago and mispricing has never previously happened. The gullible go for it, like with crypto.

Its a 2007 car so what you cant see gets picked up on. Needs the coffin arms doing, my mp4s rear tyres are old and have done 15k miles but still have tread. I have a fix the Porsche account so far its been amazingly cheap to own bar the road tax.

First proper run in the 530d yesterday. 52.3mpg there, 49.1mpg back, aided as always by long stretches of 50mph & 40mph roadworks on the M4. Based on my previous F10 and F01 that should be fairly accurate. Unlike the RR that was reading about 20% over. Other highlights:

* BMW adaptive cruise control from 2010 is much better than the RR attempt from 2017
* HUD is added to my list of "sounds like a silly novelty but I really like it"
* RR leather is much higher quality than the base spec BMW leather - need to spec Nappa on the BMW
* I'm enjoying the funky ARB / rear steering, the car sweeps through roundabouts really nicely
* The a/c has stopped working already ! But the dealer is fully supportive, says it's likely the condenser, has ordered one already and I just need to get the car over to his mechanic.

The most efficient run in my 550 was 104miles on the motorway at 34mpg, it was my wife driving before you judge me.
