Or a Panamera? A guy I work with (6' 5") has had a couple recently - a turbo (which he said wasn't all that) and the GTS he currently has which he loves. It's pretty nice, 2013ish with CC brakes. Like you he tends to buy cars that need a few bits and pieces sorting.

530e will have a tiny petrol tank, so for cross-continental jaunts it will need more regular refills than a diesel or even a normal petrol.

I'd initially written off the idea of hiring due to hire car lottery and my obsession with headrests, but knowing the exact car you're getting would solve that. I'll take a look.

I thought the natural progression from Mondeo with an eye on space was one of those, albeit in estate form (how much space do you need?). I didn't consider a Phaeton because you've shirley had enough of that platform for a while.

This is sort of getting into the crux of why it's making my head hurt so much. There's actually two competing requirements going on.

My wife is not well at the moment and not able to comfortably drive a manual so the MINI is getting laid up until she's better as we don't want to sell it, and I should be buying her an i3 'cos they're quite cool and perfect for her lifestyle.

Urgent need is the Germany trip next month, for which an i3 is obviously not suitable.

So ideally I would find a small car that's easy to drive and well suited to local journeys, which is also large and comfortable for a Euro holiday My wife is going to have to dose herself up on Tramadol just to survive the journey. It needs to be comfortable. Taking one of the other cars is not an option.

Aside from the holiday you're right, I don't *need* a big car, but I feel a bit naked without one. I'm scared of buying something cheap in case it leaves us stranded somewhere in Belgium. I'm scared of buying something nice like the RR in case I hate it and lose loads of money (I was very lucky to get out of the RR with only a small loss). Basically I don't trust my own judgement any more and I'm going around in circles.
