Steve the CRV update.
I had to top the oil, exactly 1 litre in 6 months.

I'd not feel comfortable leaving a nice car at the station. So something like gavster's Smart, £200 insurance, £35 VED, and a slight fuel saving over one of the other cars, works out £5-£10 per week and I'm happy doing that for the peace of mind.Rich B wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2024 11:10 pmtrue dat.!Sundayjumper wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2024 7:11 pmThis is rhetorical, right ? To be fair, my brain works (or worked) in the completely opposite way. When I got a job in London all those years ago, I knew I wasn't going to be doing loads of miles every day because I was getting the train. so I bought my e46 M3.
Yeah, I was actually pondering one of these recently to replace the MINI. Work plans have jumbled everything up a bit. Wife needs a car for local trips and obvs. she can't use it if it's sat at the station.Mito Man wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2024 7:18 pm You want a BMW i3. Best city car there is. With a 5 mile commute you can buy the cheapest early ones as range isn't a problem. Cabin pre-conditioning. Carbon fibre bodywork so no carpark dings. Fast as shit off a shovel up to 35 mph and quite fun.
Being a diesel it's no good for short runs though (even though our 320d spends half its life doing 2 miles back and forth type journeys...Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:25 am Having said that....

Silver 535d with black comfort seats that I already know fit me well.
This is probably what I should have bought instead of the RR.

The tuna has given me the estimate. They're doing the crank pully and I've told them to do the full belts and tensioner kit. Both front lower suspension arms and anti roll bar bushes.Jimmy Choo wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2024 9:53 pm Driving across town this evening, the bm started chirping like circadas, which soon progressed into a squeal when off the throttle. I thought it might be a belt slipping so opened the bonnet and saw that it had spat the belt off.
I took off some of the covers and moved the fan to discover that it had also spat half the crank pulley onto the undertray. Fortunately it's just the bit that drives the ac compressor. I'll get it to the garage and get all the belts and tensioners changed at the same time.
yeah, I guess if you have the space, it's kind of an easier justification.Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:21 amI'd not feel comfortable leaving a nice car at the station. (I'm optimistically hoping for minimal depreciation, cheap cars are limited how far they can fall, as long as it's got an MOT it's always got some value)
Have you had an alternator yet?Jimmy Choo wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:02 amThe tuna has given me the estimate. They're doing the crank pully and I've told them to do the full belts and tensioner kit. £1400.
My wallet is unhappy. I'd better do the swirl flap delete soon as the EGR and swirl flaps are the only two items left on the "known issue" list.
100% agree, it sounds and looks great fun and is so overpowered it had to be fun to drive.Alex88 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 4:19 pm I do love those Challengersand as with almost all American cars, they look outrageous over here, which makes them even more fun.
Shame that Dodge recently binned that model Challenger off. They've also canned the supercharged V8 and gone electric.
New model is called the Daytona, and is apparently the world's first all electric muscle caryeah, I'm sure the typical Challenger owner will love that!
Further proof that peak car design/engines are behind us.
