I'd go with that (either way).integrale_evo wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 5:28 pm I don’t like the shiny fake patina at all. Needs to be crusty and original with skilfully blended in repairs where needed, or painted properly.

One of my mates has done a few. This in one that he kept. It’s really tough deciding how far to go when you restore an old pick up.integrale_evo wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 5:28 pm I don’t like the shiny fake patina at all. Is it just me who despises car adverts where they call it ‘she’? To the point I glance and move on

You'll immediately worry what's been up the exhaust...jamcg wrote: Wed Nov 16, 2022 6:42 am Is it just me who despises car adverts where they call it ‘she’? To the point I glance and move on![]()

The definition of Low Mileage is getting stretched more and more these days...

Re: The ebay thread
The red flags are mounting up just looking at the picture
Stupid m colour flashes in the grill - check
dumb limo tints - check
Rubbish font on numberplate - check
the aftermarket front lip spoiler is borderline too.
I'll do him a favour and take it off his hands for free.

All that is an afternoons work to sort - it's a desirable car underneath. what's the deal with the rear suspension though?
Re: The ebay thread
Agreed Rich - I'm no BMW expert but there's a lot to like in a Manual 550 estate...

Re: The ebay thread
It's a nice car with a horribly written advert. It sounds like it's well cared for, despite the clip-on tat.

Re: The ebay thread
Is there?
I get that it’s interesting, but it’s probably rare because no one really wanted a manual e60 with a decent engine. Not like being manual is going to turn it into a pin sharp back road blaster, it’s a big heavy v8 estate car.
People’s annoyance at there not being a manual M5 I get, but not a 550

E61 5-series Tourings all had air suspension at the rear for self-levelling; might just be a bent sensor but it needs fixing.Rich B wrote: Wed Nov 16, 2022 10:43 am All that is an afternoons work to sort - it's a desirable car underneath. what's the deal with the rear suspension though?
That one has been modified a bit; the 6-series rear alloys all round will fuck up the ride and handling, and probably rub at the front. The interior is wrong; either the seats or the door cards don't look like the ones which originally came from the factory and, if it's a high spec with extended leather why doesn't it have electric seats? Suspect it's a bitsa, maybe a low spec car which has had interior parts retro-fitted.

Re: The ebay thread
Despite the text in this Investment Opportunity stating "The rare Genuine R220 19" alloy wheels I had refurbished last year and had genuine BMW centre caps fitted and new matching tyres fitted all round at the same time." Why add this to the ad when the images show 2 different tyre brands on the car?Sundayjumper wrote: Wed Nov 16, 2022 11:48 am And a nice close up of the superb Davanti & Hilo tyres....

Also, whilst 109k miles might be below average, does anyone else really recognise this as "low mileage" ?
