Re: Your fleet running reports
Merv is a skilled driver, I'm sure he'll manage.
Meanwhile the Zoe seems to have a slow puncture on the N/S rear. TPMS complaining this morning, so my wife stopped to check and it was down to 29PSI from the 36 I inflated it to on Saturday.
Will see if it can be plugged before ordering a new tyre. Really annoying if it can't as there's still more than 5mm tread left.

Latest enquiry about the Cayenne. If this even counts as an enquiry ? How do I reply ? “thank you” ??

What about just responding with "ok"?

id probably agree - I can't see them being a credible buyer with that intro.
I'd expect their reply to be "£2k cash"

I’m not going to reply. Low feedback bidder from East London. They’re a time waster.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Too much.
A simple " 'k " would do.

That's exactly what my wife & I do when replying to each other's texts, when it's not important enough deserve the effort of two keystrokes

I might have actually successfully done something mildly useful and replaced the indicator stalk on the Fabia with one that works properly.
Autosolo tomorrow.
Swift - brake pad carriers cleaned up (not by me) - no longer squeaks.

When doing pads & discs on eldest miklet's Civic the other week, I realised that - with the calliper carriers removed - it's an absolute doddle to throw them in the vice and break out the drill + one of these. Cleaning up the slider sections takes seconds compared the the usual faffing around. I expect I'll remove calliper carriers in the future even if I am only changing pads to facilitate this method.JonMad wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2024 10:42 am

Those things are flipping vicious. I have some for the angle grinder and I reckon they'd remove your flesh from your bones very efficiently given the chance.

Absolute agree - it's bad enough just picking up a thick stranded cable with bare fingers. Imagine many of them rotating at speedSundayjumper wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2024 11:33 am Those things are flipping vicious. The strands also like to fly off at 1 million mph and embed themselves into your body.
How about not having a sig at all?

Zoe has a puncture. Rather big screw or something sat right in the middle of the tyre, so at least it is repairable.

Balls. Test drive and again is started more often than not failing to indicate left. Arse.JonMad wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2024 10:42 am I might have actually successfully done something mildly useful and replaced the indicator stalk on the Fabia with one that works properly.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Model 3 continues to be a bastard. I knew there was something wrong with the right rear caliper as it had almost used up the whole pad, whereas the left rear was 1/3 used. Assumed it just needed cleaning and lubing which I did extensively after the whole episode with the piston ejecting itself.
Still sticking now.
But it was weird, it only stuck once in every 5 journeys or so and only for a few miles at the start of a drive. You noticed it as the consumption on the car goes crazy high for a bit.
Eventually figured out that the electric parking brake motor is causing the trouble. It sounds a bit crunchy too. The annoying thing is it's not serviceable at all, the motor is injection moulded in a plastic surround. You can remove the entire unit with 2 screws which I did last time but it's just a single gear which wasn't dirty. I think there must be corrosion within the actual motor.
Now the really stupid thing. Tesla don't sell the motor on its own. Whole Caliper only
Tried looking online but Chinese aftermarket only make parts for the later made in China Teslas which have different brakes.
None of the brake refurbishment places in the UK can source a part either.
Sent Tesla a request for a quote for a caliper but from what I can tell on their online parts catalogue, the old Brembo ones are now superseded. In which case would have to buy one from a salvage and swap the bits over but this could end up being a problem if the car needs a new caliper every so often because of a shitty motor. Maybe more sensible to swap both rears for a pair of Chinese ones which have replacement parts at least.

Superb serviced, rather cheap for another years motoring (circa 200). That said, a very recent rear tyre was highlighted as having a puncture and and fronts were near the limit and showing signs of cracking so 1 repair and 2 new boots later it's all sorted.
All set for European road trip.

I got some cheapy brass and stainless brushes which do a lovely job.mik wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2024 10:49 amWhen doing pads & discs on eldest miklet's Civic the other week, I realised that - with the calliper carriers removed - it's an absolute doddle to throw them in the vice and break out the drill + one of these. Just check what your carriers need when done up though, some are Loctite and some are Anti-seize.
Dave!
