Not quite boring Steve the CRV Update.

Been 100% boring for 5 months, then today we have a sticky clutch pedal.

Only when in a jam.
Wet field only, no clutch needed.

Had a muck about with the alfasud yesterday.

NSF caliper well and truely stuck, the adjusters which are supposed to retract the pistons don’t do anything, can’t get anything in to lever them out. Going to have to get a bit destructive.

Have found a company in Germany who sell them new (presumably refurbished ) for £250 a pair, but I’d still rather get mine off and see what they’re like first.

Unfortunately it’s an utter arse of a job apparently 😂

Hoping I can get it off just by lowering the gearbox end rather than having to drop the whole thing…

No room to unbolt the 2 halves did the caliper?

Unfortunately they bolt together from the inside side, which is blocked by the gearbox casing

And I'm not looking forward to removing the rear calipers on the Chim as the handbrake cable access can be a pain (needs releasing above the diff apparently), that's a lot worse!

Behold the excitement:

MOT passed, flying.
Fitted a new rear number plate.
Also managed 74mpg average on a journey.

The latter was me being bored doing yet another run down the m54 and seeing how much of a difference slipstreaming a large lorry made. Better than my usual mid 60's.

Mid-60s average - is this in the Up! GTI?

Finally completed the door refresh on the 928. Lubed and adjusted the window regulators, new door guard lights fitted and wiring fixed, new door stays fitted (no more self-closing doors), and new damp membrane fitted and sealed with butyl tape.

It's been leaking power steering fluid from the hoses that connect to the bottom of the reservoir, so new ones ordered. The 928 uses ATF for power steering fluid and that shit is very flammable, don't need that blowing on to an exhaust manifold!

Once that's sorted I'll run it up to the trimmer for a final quote and book it in for new carpets and seat recover and door card refresh (possibly dash and centre console recover depending on the cost).

Mid 60's is doable if primarily A road or motorway, need to keep at or below 60 on the motorway. Otherwise, for mixed driving inc. town it's about mid 50's.

Amazing for the level of fun on offer. I get 35mpg out of my Swift Sport and I don't really razz it everywhere (maybe a bit, and lots of shorter journeys). I could try a hypermiling exercise in it but I doubt I'd see much over 40 :)

We get a fairly consistent 37mpg out of my partner's Abarth 595 Turismo. She had an Up GTI before this, and never bettered 53mpg!

Have I mentioned i never got better than 30mpg out of the Puma, and usually got 24-26 tank to tank?

That easily accessible, non-license-losing loud pedal was expensive

My economy has recently increased to about 25mog in the 330i. Realised the seal on the filler cap was toast so fitted a new one. Seems to have stopped the angels nicking it.

Also fitted this last weekend new bonnet insulation and a new screen "ledge" (in the words of BMW). It's made a massive difference to securing the windscreen cowl seal against the screen itself. Hopefully significantly reducing the amount of shite that makes its way down into the drains etc
