Was looking forward to this, love Sci-Fi movies...but it just didn't hit for me at all. I loved the Nomad station and the blue targeting laser that ran over the landscape, but the overal theme I couldn't buy into, especially given how predictable it was and the emotional scenes felt oddly forced, especially towards the end. Some of the messages were so on the nose I half expected Team America to pop up.
6/10.

Oh, that's the one that used the Beirut port explosion as the basis for an explosion in the film.
I'm not joking, either - they just comped in assets over it to make it look more futuristic.
I mean, it only killed 218 people in horrific ways, barely three years ago - so I'm sure it's fine to just slap some CGI on that and call it a day. Incredibly distasteful behaviour.
Lets have Gareth Edwards remake of Towering Inferno and just use footage from Grenfell eh?

It was a 50/50 split of opinion in our group, so by those odds Chris, you might enjoy it!

Good choice of timing, less chance of you falling asleep and embarrassing your son by snoring loudly (a childhood trauma that my youngest sister still vividly recalls some 30+ years later).

The Popes Exorcist - Russell Crowe is a super exorcist and this is a special case. Crowe was great throughout, very normal and likeable and oddly it wasn’t super churchy.
The young lad who played the infected kid did an amazing job.
A solid 8/10
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 - Awful, stupid characters and terrible story. Switched it off 3/4 through.

The Continental has been ok. Not sure if it qualifies for the movie or TV thread as it's a 3 partner, each 1.5h long ish.
Not as amazing as the reviews make out. And Gibson brings nothing to the role at all - he isn't in the least bit menacing, just a bit eeuuw because it's Gibson.

haha! Sorry to leave you hanging!
The first Paw Patrol movie was far better - this was clearly just a merchandising op (there was even a joke made in the movie to this effect!)
The boy loved it.

Get Out
Chris and his girlfriend Rose head to upstate New York to meet her parents for the first time, but the more time he spends with them, the more he feels something is very wrong.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
Other half's choice but honestly, in reality, a lovely inoffensive meandering film with the saccharine sweet happy ending. (I need to lay off the Evening Primrose... )
I could not believe that Lesley Manville who plays the lead is the same actor who plays Blanche Weboy in Let him Go - could not get two more opposite characters...

I like a nice, gentle film as an antidote to all the shit going on in the world at the moment. I saw the trailer for Mrs Harris at the cinema earlier this year and stuck it on my to watch list.
Unspeakable
Samuel L Jackson spends an hour and a half torturing Martin Sheen while outsourcing his conscience to Carrie Ann Moss. Phenominal acting but the story was a little flat and the peripheral characters vary two dimensional. Thought provoking and disturbing. I'm glad I watched it.
6/10
Living
Bill Nighy being Bill Nighy. Amiee Lou Wood being young and fresh faced. Great acting, again
Frankly, I'd watch Bill Nighy do the washing up. This one was quite moving and I really enjoyed watching the two of them working together.
7/10

Killers of the Flower Moon.
Enjoyed the sado-masochism and it sure is pretty with great performances across the board. Loved the ending too and not just cos I was dying for the loo. I'm a big Scorcese fan though so my opinion probably isn't that valid.
