They fired all the senior people with a lifetime of experience and now there’s a bunch of university students using ChatGPT to create COBOL code to patch into a live system that handles trillions of dollars.

I’m not really sure what we import from the US ? Actual made in US stuff, not American brands made in China.

Have only been to Toronto, but it has a totally different feel/vibe to the multiple US locations I have been to. Have only visited or worked in both, so my feelings are only superficial, but Canada/Canadians felt more “genuine”.

There's a lot to absorb there but on the face of it, apart from the fact they more or less speak the same language, the only USP is the financial markets & associated services. Physical goods & commodities should be able to be sourced elsewhere if necessary.

to be honest, i think it’s, to use the expression - one of my icks. i just find it really cringey when people use “funny” versions of people names repeatedly. Someone on here kept referring to James O’Brien as “James Oh Brexit” the other day and i found it beyond embarrassing after the first time. If it didn’t get a laugh/acknowledgment the first time, it isn’t clever/funny/original.

I tend to agree with Rich tbh, reminds me of all those cringe #fbpe anti brexit people.

Who really cares if it gives you a bit of joy in life though
