Towed it 150 kms home the first day we got it - yeah, it wasn't much fun, or the quickest trip! - but hey. Adapt and overcome.

It has no brakes
Feck.
Over here you can only legally tow a max of 750kg without brakes.
And (over here) marine-spec axles have connections to flush fresh water through the brakes after it’s been in the sea.

Not enough space mate, ah well
Bravado aside, that was one of the reasons for keeping it - be fun to take the little blighter out on it in a few years time, unless of course he's ginger because he won't be allowed outside then. Because of the, erm ,sun.

If he's ginger, just remember they're like pancakes mate. The first one's always a throwaway.

Apparently him even showing up on the scan is a good sign, as gingers can't be detected. That's why automatic doors don't open for them.

911 update:
Caliper rebuild and Refurb
Wheel refurb
New discs and pads all round
New front spring mounts x2 -1 had a nasty crack and removal is difficult supposedly.
New top mounts x4
New uprated Bilstein B6 dampers x4
New Michelin PS2 x4
New full set of wheel bolts after corrosion on the seats.
Geo set up.
Hopefully get it on the road this weekend.
Just in time to park up for the winter to attend to some rust
Not all essential just now but when you start with these things..

The Golf R really is a brilliant all-rounder but the wife is not onboard. Not in the way I expected as she drives it like she stole and loves how nippy it is, even with the dogs, luggage and shouties.
No, last night she mentioned that I should have got something stupid, impractical and really fast because we don't really need an estate car. Maybe one of those 911s you've always wanted.
I've checked this morning and we've definitely not won the lottery and she was sober (by her standards), so unless she's had a bump on the head, I'm literally through the looking glass.
Wimmin.....
How much does it cost to get out of lease deals?????

SD can help there. You simply pay the full amount it would cost to keep the car, but give it back to the dealer.

Why, that sounds like the sort of laissez-faire attitude towards money that only an heir apparent and / or the extremely wealthy would be able to justify!!

I'm currently experiencing something similar. Wife says she hates the Megane. She's not tried to drive it (even though it doesn't have the electronic handbrake that put her off the Golf R), she thinks the seats are too low (they do go nicely low, but can also go up) and it's too firm (this is true with it on 19s, unless you're going fast enough to be focusing on things other than little road imperfections, at which point it's great).
So given she thinks it's a waste of time I reckon that means after a few years of enjoying it, at a point when cash flow hopefully increases a little, I should be able to get away with an upgrade. Kids will be the ideal size for a 911 at that point (8 and 5)...

After the Navara lunched a front hub and then the following day a window motor, which I then managed to resurrect it has now decided to start using water. Well it could have been doing it a while. I noticed that the heaters were cold last Saturday evening, but heat came and went depending on how hard I drove, it didn't overheat though.
When I got to my destination I put in 2 litres of water (I think it holds about 8) and on the way home the heat was back. I know it was full mid august as I checked it the day we left for holiday, so 2 litres used in about 1000 miles, some 600 of that towing.
I checked for leaks but can't see anything. It doesn't show any signs of HGF (starts fine, runs fine, no smoke, no boiling up) needs more investigation pressure and sniff tests but generally I've had enough so fix and dispose of it will be the best thing for my sanity and wallet long term.
Funnily enough since I bought it the buyers guides have changed for a lot of positive to lots of negative and stating Nissan saying they've worked to fix the issues. However one of the biggest faults remains on the new models (simplex bottom timing chain) and will plague the latest models with random failures too.

Same here, wife doesn't like the M240i. Says the ride is terrible and the seats are uncomfortable. She'd far rather do family trips in her 208 (I genuinely can't tell how the 208 rides any better). I'm not changing it though as I'm sure she'd hate anything other than a 4x4 of some kind.

I've just bought another car so may not have to drive the Polo GTI on the day after all.
